General WP-tasted like salty tea to me
    Ettan WP-tasted like salty tobacco
Grovsnus Portion-tasted like Ettan WP but a little stronger flavor
Odens OP-tasted like General WP but a little stronger flavor
General Classic Blend-tasted like General WP
Offroad Wintergreen Portion-tasted like cigar tobacco with a tiny tiny tiny hint of wintergreen
General Wintergreen WP-Now this one was pretty decent to me
Pioneer Los Snus (pioneer snuff)- I will NEVER put any muddy clay like "Los" in my mouth again
Thunder Frosted Long Portion (12mg)-this stuff was pretty good but would prefer wintergreen
General Mint-Although decent, tasted too much like toothpaste to me
PROBE WHISKEY-HOOOOOOLY LONG TIME COMING BATMAN! I LOOOOVE THIS STUFF! FANTASTIC!

Still in the freezer (in a freezer bag with all my opened cans of above tested snuses)
Lab 01 original portion-figured it would be like all the rest
Goteborgs Rape 2-Still want to try but low hopes based on the rest i tried

So Gen wintergreen, PROBE WHISKEY (favorite), and Thunder Frosted (wish it came in 8mg nic) are the ones I can see myself sticking with. Hmmm....payed a lot of money to find out what SOMEBODY COULD HAVE TOLD ME! lol my own fault though.

Based on that, can someone please help me find a snus I might like? I love the smokey flavor, semi sweetness of Probe Whiskey. HATED General WP, and in an emergency would use ettan wp.

    THaNx!

Welcome to the forum NY....................... glad to have you with us!

Somewhere in the thread you wrote that if one does not like Vodka they are never going to like Vodka regardless if it is high dollar or not.................However, it may take a person years to pick up the nuances of a fine French wine or enjoy the subtleties of a well crafted single malt. Also when you were a kid you loved sugar filled syrup drinks and hated eating salads.................now the opposite is probably the case.

The point is your tastes will change...........in less than a month you will not notice the salt and will begin to notice the tobacco and other flavorings..............I say this because in all my years on this forum I have read literally hundreds of "it's too salty posts"...............I only remember one case where the person's taste did not acclimate................the point is you are not unusual in your first response to snus..........many many others have thought the exact same thing as you.............give it time...............you have already bought the snus...........so there is nothing to lose in playing it out........... as others have said .............don't throw anything away..................freeze and revisit

In the meantime, give Knox, Old Viking Ginger and Lime, And Jakobsson Classic a try. Don't let the Ginger and Lime throw you...........this has a very nice and unique flavor.

Find a couple that you like..............let them be your main stay.................then every couple of weeks go back and revisit one you have stashed in the Freezer.

Anyway keep us posted on how it is going and what else you find that you like.
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

You are getting some great advice on here and the odds are good that your taste will change over time. Revisit the Pioneer when you get a chance. It has a very clean and pure tobacco taste to it.

I dare say 80-90% of this site attempted that very proposition - using American "snus" for some time, that's why we use Swedish.

+1 to everyone that said wait awhile.

My first experience with snus was horror at how salty it was. I bounced from flavor to flavor and though I ultimately settled down with one flavor I do remember how much my tastes changed over time. If the flavor I use now was the first one I tried I might still be smoking. I have huge issues with handing out a portion to curious friends as I don't want to taint there image of snus. They get all excited when I explain how this helped me stop smoking, and after demanding a portion decide very quickly they never want another snus portion ever.

I liked the wintergreen for awhile, but after a few months wintergreen was just plain nasty. I hated Ettan during the first few months, but one day I popped in a prilla of the los and it tasted amazing.

So give it time and you might find you like other things.

I find that by soaking portions in bleach and then useing them that I don't notice the salt at all. After a while you don't taste anything anymore.............ever.

disclaimer; don't try this at home. I'm just kidding dude. tho the outcome is probably quite true.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I like a lot of different snus. I only like one enough to use every day, which I have for over a year now. I am in the minority here, though. Most rotate different ones. Every now and then I will use N & J but 99.9% it's GESP.

I wish my tastes would change!!!

It has been like 7 months for me being a snus user.

Have NEVER found anything but General Mini mint that I can stand using after finding snus with Marlborough ad Camel snus.

I have probably gone through 14 rolls of General mini and tried a tin of every other mini (even regular size) I can find. At one point I probably had 30 open tins in the fridge.

I have kept going back to the others, for me it's not only the taste but how the nicotine hits me. Not sure if my body is just liking the absorption rate on the General dry mint (mini) and since it's not the same with the others I feel different.. I have no idea, just that when I smoked, I could smoke ANY cigarette to get rid of a craving.

Just can't get into the tastes of any of the others. I am starting to think I must not like the taste of tobacco!

Maybe that is why American snus is popular, because some of us just can't acquire a taste for tobacco, at least in how it is with Swedish snus.

Probe Whiskey is kinda good, but something I always liked on a 'Now And Then' basis.

If you like Probe, try Göteborg's Prima Fint----although that only comes in lös.

I see that you had a bad experience with Pioneer, and that's unfortunate, because I really love the stuff. But you shouldn't let that dominate your take on lössnus. Probe comes in lös as well, and it is far tastier than the portions, in my humble opinion.

I don't know why I didn't think of this at first

I would recommend Phantom Brown............It seems to fit the profile you are looking for and.............at least to me.................all the Phantom snuses seem to be low in salt.

Maybe others can weigh in on this.

+1 to basically everybody saying your tastes will change. They really do. I didn't really care for General or Ettan when I started using snus, though if you like smoky you should try Ettan OP. The original portion is way smokier than the white. Anyways, those two brands are mainstays for me now. General long is my go to portion.

As Snusdog said though, any Phantom/Rothbrix product would probably suit your tastes. I don't particularly care for them as I find the tobacco blend they use to be a touch too sweet. They might be right up your alley though.

+1 to Ansel as well, Skruf has a unique flavor that shouldn't be missed. Skruf has been a favorite of mine since I started 3 years ago

Well I think it's more like this. Picture if tobacco was like beef jerkey. Beef jerkey from the Natives might have been just beef with salt. More of a subtle natural flavor. THEN westerners started making it but adding more flavor like teriyaki, sugars, smoke flavors etc. etc. Then someone that is used to the flavorfull smokey semi sweet complex flavor (Copenhagen) goes to a reservation where it is made with the original beef/salt method (swedish snus) they might say "there is no flavor there, just salty beef". Niether is better or worse. Depends on taste preference. But while my taste preference would by a long shot be copenhagen, Swedish snus is not as bad for you. So I will have to learn to like it i guess.

By the way, try Probe Whiskey it is not AT ALL like ANY other swedish snus. Also I like thunder frosted for a mint flavor so try that out too.

In addition to Phantom/Rothbrix Brown, Oden's Original is another one I think you might like. Not salty. Out of everything I have tried so far though, I'd have to say Ettan is the closest to Cope with it's smokiness.
