    Taboca Snus

    Hi all,

Just curious to know what y'all thought of Tobaca (Swedish) portions. I've just given them a try now, I find them exceptionally similar to Romeo and Juliet portions.

They begin with a fruity/floraly flavor which continues throughout usage. Mild tobacco undertones begin to come through after a lil while.

More burn than I remember experiencing with the Romeo and Juliet portions.

Overall I'm not a huge fan of this one... It's far too floraly for my liking, although I would say it is a very high quality product. The portions are very nicely finished and I must say I do actually like the tin. Although it is noticeably cheaper than the Montecristo and R&J portions, it does appear to share the same sealing mechanism.

Would recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the R&J portions... especially at the present bargain prices.

I like Taboca but I don't find it to be like the RyJ at all. Maybe it's just me that can't get over the anise in the latter, which I don't really care for. Comparing the quality on the other hand is another matter - and here I agree. Both are surely up there.

I believe that I've read somewhere that the Taboca has some fig in it(?). That would explain the fruity/floral notes.

Ohh so fig is what tastes like this :P

To be honest it had me pondering for hours and I couldn't quite put my finger on it... I tend to prefer the more plain flavored snus (General, Skruf, Knox, Grov etc.) so...

I've always believed that fig = acquired taste. For many years I've actually hated it but now I actually like it (or can tolerate certain amounts).

Oh, BTW it was at Northerner I'd read it:

        Taboca Portion

Portion snus with traditional bergamot flavour and a hint of fig.

I just bought some Taboca because I couldn't resist the bargain ($ 2.8 in buysnus) and I knew that I would want to try it some day anyway. Also, as buysnus is currently offering free shipping I thought it was the opportunity to use that saved bucks and invest them in the romeo y julieta seƱorita: but giving the price... I honestly hope I don't fall for them

I got a tin in my last order. With the first portion I thought it was crap, but I read this thread and tried it again, and I definitely notice the fig. Just barely. It also tastes like black pepper. It's decent, but I don't know if I'd get it again. I'll see.

I really dig Taboca. It's a regular roll order snus for me, along with the White Luckies and Ettan White.

I think what I really like is that it's not as moist as most regular portions, yet it's not as dry as most white portions. In anycase, I dig the citrus fruit flavor and mild tobacco notes. Very good stuff, considering the price point.

              Cheers,

              Erik
