Yes, the Faroes are Danish (and so are Greenland, which you prolly know).

Well, Icelandic ... with some effort I can read it. It's MUCH harder when it comes to spoken Icelandic but not entirely impossible. I think it is one of the most beautiful languages in the world ... they sound like friggin' elves when they speak! It's supposed to quite closely resemble the way they spoke in Scandinivia eons ago.

Did you pick anything up while being up there (besides beautiful girls)?

Wow, this was an interesting read from the OP. I appreciate that you stuck it out and didn't let some incredible differences in product put you off of your adventure.

I briefly used American dip back in my high school days. I remember it being an alright experience, but quickly moved on. I recall, most fondly, Kodiak and Copenhagen.

I recently decided to revisit the American dip more as a personal experiment than anything else. I bought a can of Cope and decided to dig back in, just for the nostalgia.

The only issue with all this was the fact that I've been snussing for so long now that the whole experience was alien to me.

I was mildly put off by the smell, and couldn't get myself to put the pinch anywhere but where I normally snus.

You can all see where this is going, right?

I don't like bandits either. I do like the timberwolf wolfpacks. Also, I understand Wolf has lower tsna's than the other smokeless. This morning I used my syringe and put in a little Copenhagen Snuff in my lower cheek. It was good for a while and then started getting really strong. I didn't spit, but then was going to have to spit, but just got it out of there. It took a few washes to get it all out. I like the wolfpacks for this reason, and they are not expensive being 99cents a can. I also don't notice them being salty. Right now I just reinserted a Grov Regular Portion in my upper lip. It is pretty darn salty. I am not too crazy about salt. I think I like Ettan as one of my favorite snus portions.

In fact, due to the hassle of cleaning my mouth out of dip, I am thinking about getting more portions, but don't know which ones to get. Most of them I didn't find so appealing. I liked LD Salmiak minis. Don't have any maxis. I also have some LD regular portions I need to try out. And I have a can of Level I believe. Don't know if I would get more Grov. It is pretty strong. I think I tend to like milder snus like Ettan so maybe I also would not like Knox which I have never tried? Is Knox strong like Grov?

I much prefer Grov portions to Knox. To me Grov has a smother more subtle taste. IMO Grov is not more salty tasting than Knox. The only snus I have so far tried that I had a problem with being too salty is Gustavus.

More on the original topic - this past weekend I introduced 2 of my friends that dip to snus. I did not have a big amount of Swedish snus with me and had to buy some Triumph and they were drinking heavily so maybe they didn't get the best introduction. I tried to get thier opinoins but they didn't say much. I have only ever tried dip once and that was about 15 years ago and it made me ill. I have been wanting to try it for comparison. Of the discount brands what is the best to try in a straight or natural flavor, Timberwolf? Redman? or some other?

I used to really like the Redseal straight, more of a midprice brand but it did have a good flavor. Hint: Natural does not taste natural in my opinion, it is a flavor enhanced "natural" tobacco taste, never had one that I liked.

Again, I'm a newbie when it comes to the US stuff and other members may be able to guide you better ... but I would say that Grizzly snuff is a good choice. Of course it's the only low priced snuff I've tried, but in my opinion it's just as good as the more expensive Cope. They are surely in the same neighbourhood tastewise.

Well, here in TN you can get Copenhagen or Skoal for 3 bucks a can if you buy two cans. Otherwise I like Timberwolf. I also bought a can of Redseal Wintergreen and liked it. Redseal is made by the same company that makes Skoal. Timberwolf is made by Swedish Match. I have only tried Timberwolf Natural Pouches, Wintergreen Pouches and longcut Peach. I love the Peach and Natural Pouches. So maybe the Wolf Natural is also good. Wolf has lower TSNAs than the Grizz, Cope, Skoal or Redseal. I would try the Wolf natural Pouches again for sure.

Ha ha, well ... the US stuff will never replace my trusty snus. But it doesn't hurt to keep your horizont updated (ehm, maybe it does actually hurt a bit, but that's part of the smokeless game, right?).

As stated; I like both the Cope Whiskey and the Skoal Vanilla Blend. I won't try to keep you from trying those ... if nothing else it'll make you appreciate snus even more :lol:

I've decided to stop using the stuff in my bottom lip. It simply does more for me when I 1: use it in the upper lip, and 2: use my Icetool to pack a pris of it. It stays well together and I don't need to spit at all.

If anyone here's into S&M, I can tell you from a 3 year tenure in American dip-land, the two brands with the most intense burn are Skoal Spearmint and the new Skoal Edge. And spearmint is tasty!
