By the descriptions of snus flavors... gimme a damned flavor profile, flavor descriptions on just about every snus shop site tend to be very vague with words like "classic" or "for those who enjoy a strong aroma" and other such nonsense which never really gives me any hint of what the snus is actually supposed to taste like.. of course this doesn't apply to explicitly flavored snus.


Just read the description of Retro snus and the description gives me no info to go on.. now I could use the incredibly weak search feature here to sift through a heap of posts, but you'd ecxpect someone trying to sell me something to be a bit more precise.. I do understand there are some translation issues, I'm excited about the new snus from Gotland, but "classic and icefruit" really dosn't tell me much about the flavor "classic" I'm assuming is "tobacco flavor" but that's just an assumption, "classic" could mean the citrus flavors that seem to be so widespread in snus...

Same here and I must say, that I'm very happy, that I've already found my favorites. It took a year of testing and finding out, that the descriptions at the shops are almost useless. I now only trust the descriptions of other members here in the forum and in some other forums and even then I always keep in mind, that tastes may differ a big deal.

Yeah, i often go to the "personal tastes compared" sticky (which has become a bit clogged at times), and I do search for reviews here quite frequently. It does become a bit more annoying for "new" snus...

Got an idea..

Set up a simple wiki for flavor descriptions for all brands

Yeah we need a section on dip reviews. There are some good ones over at the Yahoo forum. Its the 1822-ETTAN-SNUS forum and it has a database you can search on the left hand side if you join. But we have more activity here. We can make our own database. I wonder if there is a way to just make a new section of snuses and have a topic for each brand/type and have reviews of them all. I know I am trying various snuses and like some and don't care for others. It was quite an experience buying 25 cans of portions not knowing, but buying a collection. There are lots I don't particularly care for. I think I like relatively mellow snus but it has to have some taste to it. This morning I tried those Ankare minis again and don't really like them because they have almost no taste in my opinion. I love Ettan however. I also like Grov. Who is to predict what I will like next? General is ok, maybe I will like it more when I try it again--I wouldn't buy it again for a while though. I like Roda Lacket..... etc.....

For an idea of 'if you like this, try..' that we were throwing around in the past, a wiki will be pretty easy to tack the information onto. I will try and knock out the basics here in a bit, listing brands, varities etc.

You did an excellent job, and a very fast job too! I have set up a basic index for Swedish Match products, will do the same for Skruf. The other varities of Snus I am not too sure who produces them so I will leave them off for now. Still new to snus relativly :wink:

Ok, listed all products from northerner. Put the brands I know into categories, the rest are under 'unsorted'. To create a new category just do ==name== and then move under there.

How should we diffirenciate between los and portion? Subsections or what? This is going to be VERY helpful :lol:

I think we're going to need subsections for each brand, a good idea may be to have just the "brands" i.e. "Offroad" and then have all the availiable flavors link off the "Offrad" page...

Looking very nice I have allocated 4.2TB (terabytes) / month of bandwidth to the wiki... should be plenty I imagine.

Maybe if it becomes a real asset to the snusing community I will get a proper domain (thinking www.snusencyclopedia.org or something).
