OK here is what I learned from Lx and the other mods who know a whole lot more about the way bots work than I do.

The account genny88 is banned and thus unusable.

If we deleted the account (vs just banning/closing it) it would (a) no longer show up on the "whose on line page" However, (b) it would be available to reopen (as if it never existed before).

As long as it is just banned the ip address is on record and the account is rendered unusable (though still visible to us on the forum). Thus we will be alerted to any other attempts to infiltrate snuson by this ip address (organization) while rendering this attempt null and void.

In other words, it’s good to keep your friends close............and genny88 even closer.

Edit: this is my best understanding of the matter. If there is more that needs to be added or something that needs correcting we will have to let Lx and Pris... the real experts on things like this chime in

fyi - When we ban users how it works is they logon to the board as normal and then when they get to the 'please wait, we are redirecting you' page (the are in effect logged on then) because they are in the Banned group with no permissions they are redirected, rather than to the forum, to a page telling them they are banned, why and for how long and that's as far as they can get. I was bored one day and tested the theory on my test account :-)

But that only works if the banned account logs off and then attempts to log back on.

I think it's a spambot that broke. It's just sitting on a server trying to remember what the boss told it to do :^D

I was indifferent about banning it, but you guys seemed concerned, so it got banned :^)

Let this be a lesson to all of you. If you are going to stay logged on to SnusOn you dam well better post once in a while.

Otherwise the members get paranoid and coherce the mods to ban your ass.
