I have come to accept that I am a big löser

Yes, that's right. I am loving the lös. I even lössed all day at work yesterday and will continue to do so once I find my go-to(s). The flavour, the fact that you can control the portion size, and the methods to get it in your mouth have won me over from portions.

I can't be bothered to bake a lovely prilla. I just take a pinch (big or small depending on my current needs) and kinda mash it gently into a pyramid shape in my palm. Then I just flatten it out, pack the outer edges, and shove it up against my teeth. A little push with the tongue and it forms up and is there for a good hour or so.

I started with Roda Lacket as it seems to be one of the ones suggested for a first-timer. It was really good and I will order it again but probably not by the roll. My next order I got Oden's Extreme 59, Probe, and Gotland's Grey. I think the Gotland's could be my favourite "flavoured" los - it is delicious - but I can't see using it all day for fear I will get burned out on it. The other two were rather "meh".

I really enjoy the taste of General Onyx; therefore I have ordered General Ekstra Sterk lös and General lös. I also ordered Ettan lös. Of those of you who have tried all three, can you rank them by preference? I have read reviews on all three but I don't think I have seen all three compared at the same time. Bear in mind that I am not at all concerned about ease of baking. I just want to know what kind of journey I am going on in finding "the one".

    1. General Lös. clean refreshing taste, perfect amount of nic. this is the most popular snus in sweden for a reason.
    2. Ettan. Classic snus. clean tobacco flavor, nice and smokey, good salt.
    3. GESLÖS. very good stuff, too strong for my general liking. no pun intended.

Thanks, timeoteo. I am not too concerned about the strength of the ES - I am still coming off a bad smoking habit and the extra kick could come in handy. Flavourwise I recall reading that one is more peppery, and the other is more citrusy (or bergamoty to be more precise). I guess I would have to try both - maybe one after the other a few times - too see which I prefer. If I do indeed prefer the regular lös I could always take a bigger pinch. I'm really looking forawrd to trying all 3 of these

you really cant go wrong with General or Ettan. You have chosen wisely. The ES is said to be more peppery but i thinks its just the nicotine, I never really noticed it. I used snus and ocasionally still smoked for a long while. wasnt untill i exclusively used loose, that i was able to quit smoking. I guess because I could make gigantor portion when i needed one.
my personal top 4 favorites are
        1 General
        2 Göteborgs rape'
        3 Ettan
        4 Grov

            i like:
skruf es los - less citrus than general. bakes really nicely.
odens extreme - really peppery and strong. same consistency as the OE 59 you tried.

1)General ES los - simply sublime
2)General los - nice when you don't want a huge hit of nicotine.
              3)Ettan los

Thanks for the welcome and the info timoteo, voodooman and LincolnSnuff, I have been lurking awhile and have already found a wealth of information in the archives, but it's great to have some feedback for something a bit more specific than what I have read (or retained).

voodooman - To be honest, out of the ones I listed the Oden's 59 was my least favourite of all I fear it may have sat in customs too long because it smelled and tasted like wet dog when I tried it. I have had the Oden's Extreme portions which I enjoyed much more than the 59 lös. I do in fact have a tin of Extreme lös on order as well. My boss makes all natural insecticide with tobacco and dish soap and other stuff but he steeps Red Man chew for it. I told him I would have something much more potent for him in exchange for a bottle of the bug killer. I may have to confiscate a pinch of it before I give it to him, purely for QC reasons

LincolnSnuff - In my head that is the order that I predict my order will come in on. One thing about Ettan that I recall from very early on is a youtube video showing some old guy hiking in the woods, sitting at the base of a tree, and taking a nice pinch of Ettan. NOt sure if you guys have seen that, but it really made me want to be there.

Try Pioneer. It's like Ettan minus the smoke. I prefer it to Ettan, but both are very good. Some good lös snus has either become extinct, or is no longer available to Americans, especially with bergamot flavor. I'm not a big fan of General, but that's about the only bergamot lös choice left. Oden's Extreme has a good flavor, but it's too strong for me. Here's my current lös roster, but some of these no longer exist, or otherwise aren't available...

                  Pioneer
                  Gotland Gul
                  LD
                  Grov
                  Ettan
                  Röda Lacket
                  Landströms
                  Gellivare
General(cause I got it really cheap)

Göteborgs Rapé is good for the first half of the tin, but then I tire of the flavor. I'd like to buy that in a 20g mini tin. That and Probe would be good in a small tin.

                    Welcome Brother Looser!

For normal strength I like the trifecta of General, Ettan, and Grov. Don't forget the Grov! Sometimes I tire of one and switch. When it comes back around it's great again.

I also enjoy on occasion: Skruf, Probe, GES, Oden's, and whatever I forgot.

Don't be afraid to try general loose.

Best all round loose I've ever had.

Skruf Stark Lös and Phantom Classic Lös are both good brands of loose snus to try! I know Phantom is a cheap brand but the taste is amazing, to be honest it kind of tastes and smells like dark chocolate!

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I will have to try to claim more freezer space and give a bunch of these a try on my next order.

lxskllr - I have seen Pioneer mentioned in previous threads. I order from Northerner out of their Swedish warehouse but it appears that Pioneer is only available in the U.S. warehouse. If I recall correctly, tobacco cannot be mailed out of the U.S. so I may have some trouble getting my hands on some. Do you know if this is in fact the case?

A Canadian would be able to inform you better, but I believe you can get stuff from the USA warehouse, but shipped via UPS, with the associated high cost :^/ Is it worth it? I dunno. It would be for me, at least once to try the snus, but Ettan is close enough if that's easy for you to get. Remember, Pioneer comes in a proper 50g tin. That means you get an extra tin per roll. Every 5g that gets cut from a tins' weight, you lose 1 tin per roll(assuming proper 50g tin size).

Northerner's U.S. warehouse will indeed ship to Canada via U.S.post. In my experience (brief), delivery completion has been approx. twice that as their Euro. counterpart. Same customs duties applicable........ whatever that happens to be on any given moment.

                              Happy Shopping.
