    White to Original portions?

Perhaps a newb question but here goes:

Is there a fundamental production difference between the original and white of a given name of snus (say General) other than moisture content? The reason I ask is I have been experimenting with various types and brands of snus and have found I prefer the original type of portion because of the moisture. I have quite a few white portions that taste as good as the original, but lack the initial "juice" that I have come to expect and enjoy.

So the real questions is.....is it possible to create an original portion by simply adding moisture to the outside of the bag? If so, could this be accomplished by opening the tin, removing the white portions, misting both sides with water and returning them to the tin?

(I do believe I see another experiment in store for me)

The poster "sharesnusinfo!" has a thread going for asking questions related to snus production. That might be a good place to ask about production differences.

If I wanted to juice up a white portion, I'd place it in the bottom lip for a few minutes until it was saturated, then move it up.

Your idea about adding moisture may work, but it may not be worth the trouble or risk.

The moisture content (or lack of moisture) is a key factor in the preservation of snus. If you were to add too much moisture, there is a chance organisms like bacteria, yeast, or mold would start to grow in your snus. Your snus could spoil or even make you sick. If you keep the snus refrigerated and use it up within a couple of days, then spoilage would not be an issue.

Good idea about contacting Jimmy about the production difference - forgot he was posting ops: !

I think I'll pre-moisten a few portions in the morning, place them in a used tin and see how they develop during the day.

Does the flavor of regular portions last longer than white? Reason I ask is I've only tried whites so far, and beat them up pretty good. After 30-45 minutes they are pretty much flavor free.

I find just the opposite. Some white portions seem to last me easily 2 hours and I 'beat them up" pretty good myself. Some originals can go as long as an hour, more or less depending on how much I play with it. Really depends on the brand and your personal snusing habits.

Just tried that very thing this evening. Had never put a portion in the lower lip before - man that starts the juices flowing!!! In a few seconds I just pushed it up to the top and am a happy camper.

              Thanks people.
