A decent replacement for Ettan lös?

    Hi guys,

I'm coming round to the idea of throwing into my rotation a pure tobacco and salt snus, it's difficult to explain but with all these flavours - liquorice, roseoil, bergamot, cinnamon, glögg, anis, wintergreen, etc - my palette is shot to ****. I'm looking for a snus that will 'clear my palette' (without so much as a dash of anything like citrus or bergamot) and from what I gather Ettan lös is the holy grail of pure tobacco snuses. The only problem is, short of flying out to Sweden (which is hopefully on the cards) I can't get it here in the UK. I'm wondering if there are any non-SM snuses that would fit the bill. Is Phantom Brown an idea? X2 by V2? Oden's Original? Granit? Knox? They are the only ones I can think of, I've never tried them before and in virgin territory for me. What about these DIY phantom kits? Primarily I would be using lös, but portions would be good too.

    Thanks

Ettan is Ettan, but Phantom brown is a decent alternative imo.

Try Pioneer. It is better than Ettan IMO.

Ettan Los, whilst it's not bad I grew not to like it anymore...

        :-)

Pioneer is far more sophisticated than ettan. Its not really a substitute for it. Rather its like going from cheap swill to a fine wine.

It's about as easy to get in the UK as Ettan too.

You can get it from the Northerner at their US Warehouse

Hi mate, not much really: General lös (in 1998, with Swedish friends at uni!)
Offroad & Thunder Wintergreen lös & Offroad WG long cut
                    Offroad & Thunder Frosted
                    Offroad Liquorice
Oden's Classic Kanel & ES Kanel
                    Gotlands Grå

Like I said, not a lot. Yes, I much prefer lös to portions now. I'm expecting some gotlands julessnus - 5 cans and odens extreme kanel -5 cans from the northerner.

A few years ago now i went down the '10 can starter box' (portions) from northerner and kinda hated the tobacco flavoured ones, ie all 10 of them. Luckily i had also ordered some flavoured snuses and got quite into them. One i tried later which i still love is ld black. I got into lös a bit later (ive been snusing on and off for years, mostly off) and i tried Offroad Liq, which i love. it's real easy to handbake, or 'handbrake', as my iPad's telling me to write lol. For me LD black portion tastes better, but it's not a lös, so it loses a couple of points there. I love gotlands grey, but the grind is a bit tricky to deal with at first. Lovely taste of anis though. Odens Kanel is a good lös too, can't wait to try the extreme Kanel.

To cut a long story short, as sage once mentioned, your taste buds change, I am enjoying the plainer portion snuses just as much as my flavoured ones now, so who knows maybe I'll like phantom brown seeing as I can't get ettan.

                        Enjoy!

Oden's kanel is great, im sure you'll love it. Where do you live? If you're in the uk I could post you a can of Offroad Liq & gotlands grå to try.

Phantom Brown is probably your best bet in the UK.

If Gotlandssnus ever puts out the plain los they let a bunch of us sample......oh man that is the winner winner chicken dinner!
