Sorry Eric. Just remember that although it hurts, the truth shall set you free.

You are a lucky man! You'll like Gotlands Grå, just be patient is my advice, it takes more skill to hand bake than Offroad (at first) but is well worth the effort

I third or fourth that Phantom Brown. It is closest to Ettan with the more smoky flavors.
Ettan has some hazelnut added which gives it that dark chocolate flavor to it and I am not sure if Phantom Brown does too.

I was kidding about ettan being cheap swill but I do think Pioneer is a notch above. It has a pure tobacco taste with just a hint of salt. It is worth trying. I have not tried Phantom yet. Hopefully, Phantom is nothing like Offroad. Offroad and General WG are the 2 brands I wouldn't use even if it was free.

I use Phantom classic and brown as a replacement for Ettan. I think my next order will be a couple tubs of 400g fine grain, loose snus on snus2. Some are saying that's a good replacement, and it costs less.

How anyone can choose Phantom or Offroad instead of Ettan is beyond me.

Personally I use Ettan as my first hand choice because it's the best there ever was, if I feel for something different i'll buy some Grov or General Lös.

Edit: Of course if you don't have it available, i'd buy the best I could get my hands on.

Phantom Brown Los and Pioneer to me would be the closest you would get to Ettan, But I defer...

There really is no replacement for Ettan as Ettan is the best, How anyone can choose Phantom or Pioneer instead of Ettan is beyond me, But if you can't get it then you gotta do what ya gotta do...

                          Ettan FTW....

FYI: I love my Phantom Brown Los and Pioneer, But gotta have Ettan...

With prices on the rise, I'm giving Phantom Brown a try soon too, I wot be able to afford Grov forever, sadly.

And once Gotland's can release their "plain" flavor in portion and loose while sticking true to their "we won't shrink our can weight" mentality, they'll be a major player.

It's looking like Phantom brown as a replacement for Ettan is getting the vote on this thread

The problem is not many companies do a plain tobacco flavor. Pioneer is closer to Ettan in flavor imo, but Phantom is easier to get. Phantom also uses light cans at 40g each. You're losing 2 tins per roll when you buy Phantom over Pioneer, so figure that into your price calcs.

Pioneer is a small company, and they aren't trying to cheat their customers by using light tins, or adding extra water to the mix. Not only are Swedish Match monopolists, they're dishonest with packaging, and presentation. Don't want to get cheated with snus? Support companies that don't cheat you. A free market operates by consumer demand. Demand honesty, and support companies that give it to you, and the others will fall into line, or fall out.
