    I once found snus disgusting

    Hi guys,

I have a confession. I once found the idea of putting tobacco in my mouth revolting. When I was directed here from snuffhouse I thought twice about ordering portions of moist tobacco, visually it didn't appeal at all and we don't really use smokeless tobacco here in the UK, it's just not done.

Whether my initial revulsion is a product of social stigma, or simply lack of knowledge, seeing those pouches saturated with juice was alien and unappealing - we don't have chew or dip here.

My point is that I can understand the many people I show my snus to, to be out off by it. I dont blame them for that, how are they to know? I honestly think that electronic cigarettes have more chance of catching on here than snus, it sticks to a form factor and set of rituals that are less 'unknown'.

Definitely, most people find snus disgusting.

At least the ones I showed SNUS to said that it's a horrible and disgusting habit and that's even worse than smoking.

Most of my friends that have tried SNUS were about to vomit and would never put snus in their mouth again, lewl.

It's pretty normal to feel a bit disgusted to put tobacco in your mouth, but if they haven't tried it how would they know it's disgusting.

The bottom line is that of course e-cigs would stick better to the people that are looking for a nicotine replacement but there's always people that are open to SNUS :-)

I am starting to think more and more about opening a shop in my area once the snus will be legalized in E.U.

And I'm nowhere near afraid that it would not stick to the people here in Romania, of course it would... I am one of the ones that likes snus maybe there are thousands more in my city alone that would enjoy snusing instead of smoking..... :-)

Just because I mentioned about opening up a snus shop in my city Constanta, lets do some math.

There a population of nearly 600,000 in my city and according to statistics 120,000 people smoke +/- a couple thousands.

Lets assume that 10% of those smokers will get hooked on SNUS and start consuming snus on monthly basis, that would be 12,000 snus users in my city alone to start of with that each would consume lets say a roll per month.

That would be 12,000 rolls sold each and every month. Assuming I would sell a roll of snus with 50 EUROS, the profit margin would be 30 euros per roll (extracted the taxes 20 EUROS, just an assumption)

The TOTAL profit would be 12,000 x 30 = 360.000 EUROS (wholly crap!)

I'm sure I would be the first one to bring snus to my city once it's legalized in EU but the competition would slowly start opening shops so the share of the market would diminish in time... but still there's a huge potential to expand all over Romania or other EU countries.

Sorry bout' making this so long and speaking about business but I would be so interested in opening up SNUS shops :-)

    Cheers

Yea, I'm not a big fan of technology with my tobacco. It takes the joy and art out of the process, and makes it a drug delivery system. Might as well just inject it, and save the money on batteries, carts, and stuff.

Well said. I don't snus as a replacement for cigarettes. I'm sure a lot of people do, but I never have. I started with snus, and I enjoy the taste. While "vaping" is something to do, it takes away from the pleasure and does indeed make it nothing more than a nicotine delivery system. Although I suppose it is 'safer' than smoking, so it's a first step to quitting. I really have no ambition to quit, I enjoy snusing for what it is.

Boy that's sure to get a few excited replies. Starting snus with no prior history of tobacco use doesn't go down with most here. I think this is so, at least partly, because the great grand anti-tobacco jihad loves to seize on such as this to paint tobacco use as blackly as they possibly can. Of course it's really none of their damn business what any of us do tobacco-wise but anti-tobacco zealots do not care that they impinge on our freedom. They "know" what's "right" for us and they'll use every freedom abrogating coercive strategy the burgeoning nanny-state can deploy to stop us. I personally am not alarmed overmuch about someone starting snus from scratch but you can be sure that this fact will be used as ammo against us.

It was the tin of Camel "snus" laying around that I decided to try. I thought it was alright, but after researching, I found that there was real snus products sold in Sweden. I started importing and before any nicotine addiction, I knew I was hooked. The flavors, the quality, just so far beyond what you can purchase here in the states. Everything here is watered down and flavored (sugared) up. So you can thank the marketing of the US companies for getting me started and the quality of Swedish snus for keeping me around.

                  +1

Batteries have no place in my tobacco enjoyment. Oh and don't forget those e cigs have no tobacco at all. It's unatural.

What really turned me off to ecigs was seeing the people at the mall kiosks trying to push them. Puffing on them like douchebags. The kiosks had pictures of good looking men and women wearing all black holding the ecigs lookin like douches as well.

Tried the e-cigs, can't find any enjoyment in them at all.

Not to mention that the flavors and all are disguisting... just another marketing trick, lewl

Snus is where the enjoyment is and of course american chew and dip ;-)

I think white portions are more appealing to new users of snus. Hell, even I switched to white portions after using original portions exclusively for two years. In my opinion, the odor and flavor is more pleasant. When I see a super-moist portion today, I also find it repulsive.

A few years ago when I was experimenting with different types of tobacco, I tried dip. To me, it was the grossest thing I had ever put in my mouth. It just tasted awful and I hated the smell, overall I just felt nauseous and put off. I couldn't understand why everyone enjoyed it. Then I did it again, trying to see if it had somehow gotten any better. And with some sort of miracle, it did, somewhat. I still got a HUGE nicotine buzz and got really sweaty, but I wasnt as nauseous, and the taste and smell was bearable. Still wasn't my cup of tea though. Then I tried cigarettes, cigars, chew, and snus. I had the same effect with chew and snus, but cigarettes and cigars were different.

I was able to take the nicotine, so I smoked on and off, then became addicted. I smoked for 2 years, and thought I'd try a pinch of my friends dip. As expected, I didn't enjoy the taste but I was able to take the nicotine. But I continued to smoke for another year and I tried snus. Let me tell you, it was the best/easiest transition from cigarettes. I haven't smoked in a week and I don't even have the urge. I have only been able to get Camel, since I live in the states, but I just ordered my first shipment of Swedish snus yesterday and I can't wait to try the different flavors of portions. I ordered 1 can of Thunder Chrome ES Coffee Supreme - Long, 1 can of Ettan original, and 10 cans if Jakobsson's Icefruit which came with the mystery 5 pack

Sounds like a good start. It may take you a week or so to acclimate to Swedish snus from the American version. So give it time........... try a variety........... don't throw anything away (if you don't like it stick it in the freezer and revisit it in a few months) your taste will change
