General Snus is at my Local QuikTrip

I don't know if you guys have already talked about this, but I checked Google and nothing so I thought I'd give you a heads up.

I read last year that General was going to start selling special americanized portion snus in the US to a chorus of yawns.

Then about a month ago, a General mini-fridge filled with round, not oblong like they wrote about, cans of what appears to be normal, non-americanize General snus appeared at my local QuikTrip.

They stock 4 kinds: Original, White, Mint and Wintergreen. There're $3.99 per 24 portion can which is about 30% less than Camel snus per portion.

    Hooray!

The thing is, NO ONE is buying them. There are no promotions or advertising. I'm afraid that unless Swedish Match gets on the ball, they're going to be pulled from the market.

Geez, Camel snus are so meh, I was down to 2 or 3 a day.

I guess they think their stuff is so awesome people will be inexplicably drawn to trying out their product.

Chicken meet egg. Only solution for you is to just buy 'till it hurts and proselytize like mad. A big problem I've noticed with enticing others to try snus is the total lack of local retail availability. Having it readily available in stores for prospective snusers is a big advantage acceptance wise compared to only being able to obtain it online.

Speedway sells General snus in near me, but all of it is expired! They only types left are Mint, Mini Mint, and Wintergreen, which are nasty. I'm really angry because I only use General White Portion -- if Swedish Match wants my money, they need make the product available and ensure it's fresh.

i can't even get pipe tobacco (except Prince Albert and Carter Hall) in my town, so I doubt I'll ever be able to get real snus. Not an issue for me.

My local non-chain quick shop carries General for me. I asked him to order it and he gets in about a log every month for me.
He doesn't even advertise it, so I'm the only one who uses it. He keeps it in the back in the beer cooler. He only charges 3.69 a can....not bad. I get snus for that price and don't have to pay shipping.

This seems to be the problem with lots of stores in the states that are selling swedish snus, no visibility. My local tobacco store the Tinder box sells general, some Offroads, Thunders, and Odens. People are buying it I know cause I stop by at least once a month to grab a can for good measure, and its always different stuff (or hardly any) thats available. But damn, you wouldn't no it was there unless you ask for it. its not only behind the counter but under the counter out of site. It's either $4.99 or $5.99 a can.

Wade...is this the Tinderbox in Mobile?? Just want to know, because I don't want our retailers keeping our products "under the counter". Thanks man ;-)

Oh yeah that would toast my buns if a local retailer was keeping the good stuff hidden behind the counter. Of course the chances that a retailer here having it anywhere at all are about the same as them having plutonium for sale.

Yes Rick, it is the tinderbox in Mobile, AL. I am grateful that you have them set up, but I have to awkwardly have to lean over the counter to try to see what they have, which is impossible due to the placement of the fridge.
