    Kardus

Just out of interest, how many people have been getting the kardus over the years ? I wanted this years but i didn't have the cash

    Kardus over the years 2005 - 2011

    Kardus Superior Blend 2005

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke.

Our 2005 blend brought together tobaccos from specially selected plantations in Vietnam, Hungary, Spain and India. This vintage had a smoky, spiced, tobacco flavor reminiscent of dried fruit, figs, and plums. As well as a distinct, sharp sense of salty sweetness with a tone of cocoa. Its fragrance included touches of raisin, distilled wines, vanilla and hay.

    Levels

    Nicotine 6,7 mg/g
    Salt: 6,2%
    pH level: 8,7

    Kardus Superior Blend 2006

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke.

Tobacco from seven countries came together to make the 2006 Kardus Superior Blend. These included a South African air-dried tobacco that added a mild seasoning and ecologically grown, sun-dried Criollo Salteño from Argentina, which gave this Kardus vintage its dark, full-bodied characteristics. The combination created a tobacco flavor distinctly recognizable from the previous year’s Kardus Superior Blend. Kardus 2006 is known for having a fine balance of a smoky flavor touched by dried fruit and oak.

    Levels

    Nicotine 6,7 mg/g
    Salt: 6,2%
    pH level: 8,7

    Kardus Superior Blend 2007

This 2007 blend consisted of fine-cut tobaccos from several parts of the world, including the Argentinean variety Criollo Misionero – a dark, air-dried leaf grown in the northern Misiones Province. Other tobaccos in this blend came from Brazil, Hungary, India and South Africa – all contributing to the special Kardus character. This vintage had a mild and pure tobacco flavor with a hint of fruit and a distinct, sharp sense of salty sweetness. The aroma was somewhat smoky in character with a hint of cocoa, coconut, and freshly cut grass flavored with sweet tones of vanilla and flowers.

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke.

    Kardus Superior Blend 2008

This 2008 vintage blend had hand cut, air-dried tobacco from Hungary and sun-dried Kurnool tobacco from India. The two flavors were accentuated with a Scottish Highland single malt whisky. During tasting events, it was often said that the blend had the nuances of a fine quality single malt whisky.

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke.

    Kardus Superior Blend 2009

Kardus Superior Blend 2009 contained a complex, nuanced, and exotic blend of tobacco from Guatemala and Argentina. Its full-bodied aroma can be described as sweet and fruity, with a hint of tea. Kardus 2009 is made from a particularly aromatic and flavorful tobacco grown in the light clay soils in the Andean foothills in Salta Province of Argentina. This was combined with a notable crop from southwest Guatemala that was air-dried in specially built barns made from eucalyptus wood – adding nuances of chocolate, nuts and fruit. To complete the 2009 Kardus Superior Blend, dark Guatemalan rum that was aged 23 years in American Oak was added. Viewed by many as one of the finest rums in the world, it gave a caramel, hazel nut and nutmeg touch.

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke

    Kardus Superior Blend 2010

This year’s Kardus is a piece of history. The ‘East Indian’ theme reflects the flavor and origin of the tobacco. The Pakpie Karang Jati tobacco comes from Java and is grown on the eastern side of the island. The leaves are individually selected as they grow, and only the middle leaves are used. Then the tobacco is cut into long, thin strips – a Ranjangan method – and left to cure on bamboo mats in the sun. The unique curing process gives the tobacco a delicate texture, which makes the portion easy to bake. The flavor, enhanced by Batavia arrak (also from East India), is an exotic mix of fruit and spices. It is refreshingly sweet with a balanced bitterness, said to resemble ripe tamarind with hints of chocolate. Kardus is sold in an oak box and the china in the box is a legacy from the final voyage of the East Indiaman, the Göteborg, in 1745, which was salvaged from the wreck in 1905.

Kardus Superior Blend 2011 - Carnival Blend

As the name suggests, the tobacco and inspiration behind this year's edition is taken from the land of the carnival - Brazil. The organically grown and air-cured tobacco is harvested in selected plantations in the country's southernmost state, Rio Grande do Sul. Swedish snus Kardus also have the flavor from the national spirit cachaça, a rum made of pure, freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. The combination of the two creates a Swedish snus with rich and full-bodied spicy tobacco character, with clear hints of dried fruit, oak, rosehip and tea. Kardus Carnival Blend (100 grams) is released in limited edition of 600 boxes on Father's Day.

    Ingredients

Water, Tobacco, Moisture preservatives (E 422, E 1520), Flavor enhancers (salt), Acidity regulator (E 500), Aromas including liquid smoke.

I got 2007-2008, and tried 2009. Haven't had the spare cash the other years. It's definitely worth it if you have the disposable income. It's like no other snus on the market.

I have not purchased any but I have tried Kardus and it was awesome. However 250 grams is about 5 cans. If you don't like a brand enough to buy half a roll I don't see it being worth it. They list for about $ 37.00 now which is more reasonable than the $69.00 they were last year but for $37.00 I could get 5 cans of whatever Los I want plus 3 cans of my choice. However the quality of those cans won't match the Kardus.

You're talking about the Kardus in the blue box, the Ettan and Grov, that's 250g. I'm talking about the one that comes out at years end and it''s a 100grams, and it's £56.30 on .northerner. But, i'd still like some of the stuff in the blue box, they do sound awesome

I have only had three. I didn't get it this year 'cos I couldn't justify the extra expense but I do think it's worth the price of admission. Not often, but I have dropped sixty or seventy on a bottle of scotch...and consumed it in a night or two with someone, of course.

I did have some this year, but it was a can's worth from 2010. It held up well. Now the best gem I have is a full can of Claq Qui.

I am glad this thread came up so I could ask a question. I have some Ettan Kardus that is now frozen and have no idea how people take some out to use and store the rest. I do not keep alot of empty cans around. How can I take some out of the freezer for use and keep freezing the rest without exposing it to air?

I would imagine it’s the same as any bulk los snus, once it’s frozen as a solid lump, you’re down to prizing a lump off, or chipping away at it with a knife, that’s if you can get it out the box. You might end up destroying the box if you can get any out. Maybe letting it get partially thawed first could help, and if you have two or three empty cans, fill them.

I don't know what your snus usage is, but I'd guess you'd be able to produce 10 empty cans in a month. It's not like they take up much space. You can also vacuum seal it but it's probably not worth the effort. Another great idea is to store it under your lip...but then it's going to be 1-2g at a time and you'll only keep it there for about an hour.
