seems all the new snus only comes in portions. i use both los and portions, but I prefer los when not a work. Is the portion pouch a different tobacco than the los. I was thinking of ripping open a pouch and using my icetool to make a pris.
I Thought Los was Popular

IMHO, the portion snus has a much greater market potential than los. I am strickly portion at home, at work, in the car, etc, you can't beat the ease of tossin in a portion whenever the mood strikes you.
As far as the difference in taste, I cannot comment on that being a portion only user.

I have used portion snus as Los before. Not for any other reason than the portions were torn. The portion snus seems much less moist and imho has more nicotine in less volume. One opened portion makes a pris about the size of a green pea but seems to pack as much nicotine as a couple clicks on my icetool 3ml and my favorite los. That being said, give it a shot if you wish, but be careful not to go beyond the normal number of portions you'd use at one time unless you want your head to explode.

From what I read, most of the Sweden market uses portions. Snus was quietly dying in Sweden until 1970, when portions were first introduced. The snus market then exploded. I think most of the Los users there are the old time traditionalists. Younger users use portions.

Yes, lös is uncouth - for farmers and hockey players. The image in Sweden isn't much different from dip in the US. Tobacco for hicks.
Portions are different. It's ok to be hip and young and have a portion in a bar. As said, most people use portions aside from kids, who use Röda lös, and hillbillies.

Haha, same here - different backwoods, but northern canadian hick nonetheless. I continually amaze my city-slicker friends with such incredible feats as knowing how to do basic plumbing, fix household appliances, and solve complex problems with duct tape, hot glue, and a soldering iron

But as for the topic; I think lös is more popular here in Finland than portions. Like Swedes, we have a history with snus which goes centurys back and lös still has it's meaning to us (or so I think). I agree that portions are much easier to use, but so far General Onyx is the only portion I've ever tried that actually is any good compared to lös. I enjoy the whole process with using lös and the most I enjoy keeping a big fat pris under my lipe so I really can feel it. Like now, with a big pris of General and listening to Lou Reed. These are the simple things in life that make life what it is... priceless.
