What the heck is the deal with snuscentral shipping prices?

Just in November I ordered and it was $35 to the usa. Now I go to check out in Feb and it's $90?!

    Anyone know why?

Don't think I will be ordering if I have to pay that kinda money for shipping.

At buysnus it is even more for the same amount of cans 118.75 :-o

Only way I will be willing to order now is if friends buy with me and split shipping costs, which isn't an issue, just an annoyance really.

With 52 cans in the cart at snuscentral the quote is 53 which isn't that bad, was just really high when I had 60+ cans. So at 53 for shipping, splitting shipping with a friends makes it much more affordable.

Plus where I live the average can sells for 4.50, even considering the high shipping costs my cost per can is still roughly 3.30 so I am not complaining.

I just want to know why they jacked it up so much ...

I just checked buysnus for 4 rolls 40 cans the shipping was 31.09. How many cans are you talking about for 118.75 shipping?

Ah my mistake, something else was added, but for 60 cans it is showing $60 for shipping and their prices are $2-3 more per roll compared to snuscentral.

For sixty cans from snuscentral they want $59 for shipping and their prices are lower.

But ya as for the 118.75 I missed that there was another product in the cart, kind of tricky to tell sometimes with their mini cart they use on the homepage.

Either way, I was paying half the shipping cost for the same amount of cans in mid November.

Today 10 rolls and 3 xtra tins the shipping is exactly $59.38 at buysnus. Thats within 3 grams of the next shipping price jump. Thats outragous but is pretty much equal to the shipping and Illinois tax if buying from northerner. Do you see a pattern here between the suppliers? If you are ordering from buysnus in quanity I suggest you add one roll at a time to your cart and check the shipping. The shipping will jump up with each additional roll and some of the jumps are higher than others.

I mostly order from northerner but have to order from buysnus when northerner doesn't carry what I need.....I have never ordered from anywhere else except getsnus [back in the day when shipping was free from them]

Yah getsnus was a tiny bit cheaper than snuscentral but I can't get thunder coola loose from them because it said it isn't in a US warehouse so I said boo that I am going with snuscentral.

It does suck mattarios. Regarding SnusCentral.com, this is how it was explained to me.

Thanks to the PACT Act and the Tobacco Control Act, we lost Swedish Post as an option and were left to a UPS monopoly. SnusCentral ships UPS with US duty charges pre-paid. As PP said, UPS charges can increase dramatically if your order increases a gram over each price/weight level.

SnusCentral.com used a flat-rate shipping model until last year. This worked since prior to PACT, customers made more smaller purchases more frequently instead of today where many more purchases are larger (and heavier) but less frequent. An audit in October showed between having a lowest price model and using flat-rate UPS shipping, SC.com was losing money...a lot of money. In the case of your example, $55.

Cutting expenses in Customer Service, freshness of snus, or eliminating the 10% New Customer Discount were taken off the table immediately. SC went to a "true cost" shipping model....what it costs SC to ship an order was what the shipping price would have to be.

They added an automatic $10 discount for purchases of $150 and $20 for purchases over $250 to try to help with the shipping without going broke. Product prices also went up a little although still no where near the prices Northerner in particular commands.

Comparison shop when you buy but factor in the complete purchase experience.

                  - On price, divide the total price with shipping by the number of cans and look at your per-can price.
                  - Consider how quickly you need the snus versus how the various snus eStores are rated in terms of order-to-your-door time.
                  - On customer service response time, effectiveness, % of getting what you ordered right the first time, fresh snus by expiration date, and just general customer satisfaction with particular stores, SnusOn and the other snus forums are full of posts by eSnus buyers rating their experiences at different stores for better and for worse.

After looking at the total shopping experience from beginning to end, decide eStore offers the best deal for you and your needs.

Working to get the US postal ban of tobacco shipments repealed and getting the EU Snus ban lifted wouldn't hurt either. In the end, higher shipping costs by eTailers and lower quantity of snus per can by manufacturers are all because of Big US/EU Government, the Anti-All-Tobacco Extremists, and Big Pharma which pays off the first two.

                  Hope this helps.

                  Larry

Yea Larry......the times they are a changing. However, in the short term........free shipping at northerner thru 2-19 [tomorrow]. That make the choice real easy.

60 cans shows 37.34 shipping at snuffcentral for me. 27.34 with the $10.00 discount for an order over $150.00

                        ~~
Buysnus doesn't assess local taxes however. This could nip ya in the bud, or maybe not. It's a crap shot, but it's what I do. The government could find out and charge you for back taxes...or not. Gamble at your own will.

If i had to pay my state taxes on orders.....I don't even know what I'd do.

Thanks for that Larry, good to know why :-) !

As for experience I find snuscentral the best so far.

slidingblues: snuffcentral? Are you talking about Snuscentral?

I ordered 52 cans and it cost me 53.00 for shipping :-/ but with 10 off it was 43 which is workable for sure. Like I said oral tobacco in Massachusetts ranges from 4.40-7.50 per can depending on brand, at least for the stuff I WOULD use, shitty shitty brands I would never touch can be had for 3. So total cost ran me something like 3.40 a can shipped which I think is very reasonable seeing the cheapest stuff I would buy down the road would cost me 4.40 a can.

Then again I wasn't around years ago when veterans here have said it was even cheaper, but comparing now to now, snus online vs dip in MA, snus online wins with ease still.

Yes sorry..snuscentral...been snuffing more than snusing lately. Just realized I had some mini's in the cart. Ran it again with all regular portions and it bumped it up to 41.25 before the discount. That was all portions....I can see the increased weight of los bumping it up more.

                            Either way....the shipping prices suck.
