    UPS My Way

Has anyone used the UPS My Way program? It seems you can authorize online for a package to be dropped off without being at home for the actual signature. I'm wondering if it will work for tobacco products as well.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I just signed up with UPS, set the preference to no signature required and then placed an order at buysnus. Should ship Monday and get here midweek so I'll post the experience.

I did see this on UPS when you sign up for UPS my choice and set the preference to no signature required, which i didn't see the option to do....

Both UPS My Choice Members and Premium Members can request an Authorize Shipment Release. An Authorize Shipment Release waives any signature requirement needed for the delivery of your package.

Note: An Authorize Shipment Release request may be denied if the shipper requires a signature or an adult signature upon successful delivery of your package.

Guess if the gov says you gotta sign............ UPS cannot step around it

Possibly. I live in a small town so its not a big deal but i could see a problem if you live in a bigger place where you might not know your neighbors. I'm not 21 so sometimes when a friend isnt around I send it over to my neighbor and they sign for it.

              what a coincidence.......I'm not 21 either.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Nah. I tried that back when they started this PACT b.s. The driver said I have to sign for it. Maybe he was just confused about the new rules. Or, maybe it's a bit of pre-planned digital proof of receipt masterminded by the IRS to keep an eye on tax scofflaws. Or, I could be just paranoid.

I guess I could always use the option where UPS will deliver to a UPS store and hold it for pickup there. Would be better than waiting around for the truck.

I get it delivered to my work, and I never sign for it, the mailroom does. UPS guy has no issues with it.

I thought I would keep people updated on how the UPS my choice is working for me. BTW, I'm just using the free program.

I have 1 package coming from snuscentral and I have been trying to divert the package to another address or have it held at a UPS store for pickup. As of now the only options I get when I use the change delivery button are : hold for pickup at a UPS hub, or change my delivery day.

I have another package of computer parts coming on the same day from newegg with UPS, and I have all the delivery options available to me.

I'm wondering if the lack of options are because the snus is in customs right now or if it is because snus is a controlled substance. I will try again after it clears customs if I can catch it. I only have a 3 day shipping window from Sweden to my house. Snuscentral is very fast.

Fail. Notice stuck on the door and no snus. Notice says that:

"C) An adult signature is required at the time of delivery at your address."
The driver must obtain a signature from an adult and hand the package(s) to that person at your address at the time of delivery. The minimum age is 21. Identification is required."

Was worth a try, I guess. I've chatted with the driver a few times and was kind of hoping he'd be a nice guy and leave it then scrawl something on the electronic tablet (my sig is impossible to decipher anyway) but maybe he likes working at UPS....

The signature is to comply with regs concerning underage sale. I tried the UPS My Choice but it only omits signatures required by the shipper. It does allow you to have it held at one of their centers, which is what I do.

You can always have it held at a shipper's. Talked to a woman at UPS today about my Icetool shipment. She said that through MyUPS I could pick a two hour window for the driver to deliver in...of course, it would cost $4 to get that. I then just had her change the delivery location to my wife's work. Hopefully that works.

Months ago I put a note on the door of my house and had it delivered at my neighbors house. The UPS driver did and I received my package later that night after work.

Might depend on the UPS driver, but its worth a try.
