New to Snus'n - A smoker who converted with just one try!

First of all I want to thank my friend Grim for introducing me to Snus. I'm almost 25 years old, I started smoking cigarettes when I was 12. I quit off and on and off and then back on again time and time I can't count. When I was in the Army I switched to dip because we were not allowed to smoke where I was stationed. I was a Cope fan while I was a dipper. I have pretty much enjoyed any tobacco product but cigarettes were just my niche, until recently. The first snus that I tried was the General Onyx and I was suprised and amazed at the flavor I was recieving and no urge to spit! I had pretty much decided right then and there that snus will replace cigarettes for me. I didn't want to try just one kind though and Grim let me try the Göteborgs Rapé and the no. 2 version. There's a whole world of flavors that I can enjoy with snus! I had to go out to the store and buy the snus that is advertised around here, Triumph Original, its not bad. I like that after an hour or so it is like you have fruit in your lip. I am curious to try all the different types but so far I have to say that the General Onyx is my favorite. The only concern is that there is 11mg of nicotine per portion and I wonder if that is why I like it so darn much. Although one pouch will sit in my lip for hours and then I'll go for hours without having another one so I guess I'm just as addicted to nicotine either way. This way at least I save my poor weezing lungs and it will help my running.
Next on my list of snus to try is General Sterk (bring on the nicotine!), Montecristo, and Romeo y Juliete.
Oh yeah and I have not had but two cigarettes since being introduced to snus and the power and flavor of snus has even curbed me of the physical parts of a smoking addiction.

Now if only everyone else i know would listen to me...lol.

General Sterk has around the same nicotine as onyx... it says 11mg so i guess that would be the exact same. I guess difference would be alot less of the citrus taste and more peppery tobacco.

Skruf Strong has alot of nicotine but some complain of stomach pains if they use it too often.

But keep it up man .... i have like 13 cans in the fridge and would rather give you one of those than have you keep smoking.

Welcome to the forum czar. There is a whole world of snus that still awaits you. Discovering that world is half the fun. And thank you Grim for bringing another to the ways of snus.

No Prob. I just wish more smokers would switch over.

Im not going to make someone change their lifestyle. I can only give advice and hope they heed it.

I am addicted to nicotine and therfore try and find the safest and most satisfying way to do so. Thats where Swedish Snus comes in.

Some people use Nic Gum and other use patches and inhalers and so on.

But for all those who are trying to quit smoking, dont give up, try snus and enjoy your tobacco and all the flavors it comes in.

Like ive told my american friends when reading the sergeon general warning.

Cigs- Smoking CAUSES emphysema, lung cancer and birth defects.

        Snuff- MAY cause oral cancer.

        Big difference.

Welcome to the forums bud. Sagedil is right. Finding what you like is quite fun. It can be a long process, and your tastes may change on a regular basis (I know mine do), but it is great tasting and trying everything.

My brother is a long time dipper and he's trying a few different types tonight. Awaiting to hear what he thinks. A couple other friends of mine tried it and today they were like "I'm craving one of those 'things' you gave me yesterday." I'm still tryin to find my favorite flavor. So far the Onyx is great but kind of like a tank of nicotine all at once. I am digging the Jackobsons right at this moment.

I'm that same way. I dont dislike the flavor of the stark brands... I just dont like the nicotine jackhammer. I prefer a steady ride.

Welcome to the forum czar. It's hard to beat Onyx, I love it. My Dad has used Cope since before I was born and I told him about snus a little while ago. He was interested but, I didn't think he would try it. A few weeks later he had tried some Grand Prix and liked it (though I have heard it's swill). I ordered some cans of good stuff from buysnus.com and had them shipped to him. He told me today that he has decided to just use snus from now on. Snus is all I use anymore and I couln't be happier. Good luck!

quickly I have realized, snus isn't just a habit, its a hobby. grim generously donated several different types to me to try and figuring out which ones I like just out of these is proving to be challenging. I went out and bought a can of Triumph just to see how it matches up with the others. It is ok... I'm coming to the conclusion that this is going to be like what beer and liqour drinking is to me, a variety. I don't always buy the same beer, I dont always buy the same liquor. So right now I'm having fun trying to pair up the snus with whatever it is I'm drinking. I like the General Onyx with Bourbon hands down. With rum though I haven't found an exact match but the Gotlandssnus green was rather tasty. I was reading another thread about pairing it with beer but I guess everyone's tastebuds are different so the opinions will vary. I drink beer all the time and so far no snus/beer combo has stood out except Goteborgs Rape' White portion with Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale (which is only available in the Southeastern U.S. because it is un-pasturized)

Sweetwater 420 is a wonderful beer! It tastes great with phantom blue too. Something about the juniper in the Blue or GR that is just heavily complimented by that beer.

Dos Equis Amber with some lime and some Blue or GR goes very well too.

Ain't it a small world? There's three of us GA boys on here snus'n it up! and the fact that we got Sweetwater! "nana-nana-boo-boo!" I say to the folks that can't get it. I haven't had the urge for a cigarette in a full week now! My brother has reported back that he LOVES the Onyx. I ordered a few different tins for next week, one is the kind made for ladies (its for a lady  ) I'm very much looking forward to Lucky Strike. I loved their cigarettes, the ones with filters (hard to find here!) I hope there snus is just as toasted!

I am into a lot of tobac products cigs, pipes, cigars, hell I even own 3 hookahs (tobacco only) If anyone on GA knows where I can get some local snus around Kennesaw GA let me know.

Triumph is all over this state man. I live in LaGrange and Triumph is in every gas station. You shouldnt have to look far.

Also Triumph seems to be the only branded for america snus thats worth a shit.

If you like camel or marlboros products then thats fine but i would say they are ruining the whole snus image and all the history that is behind the original stuff. Thats one reason i am proud to be a snus user. It has a rich history and the swedes are doing everything to make sure its as "safe" of a tobacco product as you can get.

I am not saying I like the camel stuff (to candy like for me) but it is my launching pad into the snus world. I have to try and find some Triumph thanks for the tip. I know buysnus.com has fast shipping but I can not wait to try something besides the camel stuff.

Im not scolding someone for liking camel.

It also got me into the world of snus. Although once i tried the real stuff i never looked back.

Some people will like american snus' more than the real stuff. Its a matter of taste. Some hardcore american SNUFF users that are old school american, will only use american brands and thats where alot of camel and marlboro will get its revenue.

I remember when i used camel snus i dipped it like snuff and still had to spit because, first, i was used to doing that with tobacco in my mouht, and because i didnt know to put it in my upper lip which made me salivate more.

Then i researched the stuff, found these forums, and ordered some general onyx from buysnus and waited. In the time i waited i got a can of triumph that was behind the counter, upper lipped it, and was amazed.

But the big suprise was when my order got here. I loved the stuff and now thats all i use is pure swedish snus. Now triumph is basically the real thing as it is made there and i have friends that didnt like my onyx, jakobssons, and gotlands and would rather use triumph. Some people on here love it more than the others.

There is a poster on here who was a little disappointed on his first swedish order and says triumph still remains his favorite.
