Which Snus would you use while enjoying a martini?

I know this is a dumb question... but not any dummer than the pilsner one. I am on a diet, so prefer gin or vodka. I guess to me it doesn't matter which snus I use as long as I like the snus. Grov, Ettan... actually Ettan is now my favorite... Maybe Retro.... Roda Lacket, Gotesborg Rape...

Id go with goteborgs rape portion, the strong juniper notes would compliment the aromatics in gin/vermouth.

I'd have to agree, Surprise Sex all the way. Retro has a hint of juniper also and goes nicely with gin. Methinks Knox, General, Gul, and Jakobsson's are the way to go with vodka martinis.

A vodka martini is a contradiction in terms. James Bond can rot in contemporary-fiction hell for all I care - a martini is gin and vermouth, accept no substitutes  8)

For a real martini, definitely GR or Gul...maybe even Tre Ankare.

I'd go for some Russian vodka from the freezer poured into a tall shot glass with a water back and a slice of lemon. In this scenario your favorite snus would be the best choice. Keep 'em coming Doc!

Liquor is expensive here in TN. But I got a half gallon of Skol vodka for 10 bucks. I put it on the rocks. It was so good, I bought two more and put them in the closet. I was a bourbon and gin drinker, but love Vodka on the rocks.

I would have to say LD Juniper, every time that I put one in, I think of Bombay sapphire gin.

Sorry, I'm a little too new to be teasing, but I'm a wee bit liquored up and couldn't resist. Everyone has their own preference and some people think I'm insane for liking the things that I like. Skol is just harsh to me and reminds me of being 19 with a hangover that haunts my dreams.

Olephant is a really nice, smooth vodka that will take just about anything else to town and is about 2/3 the cost of top-shelf.

I do not like bourbon at all. Come to think of it, I won't drink anything aged in a charred oak barrel. The one exception is on a nice brisk Autumn night I do like hot apple cider with a splash of Jack Daniels. Gin, vodka, rum and tequila I pretty much like equally. Once again, I apologize for the wise-crack about the Skol.

Oh man, I love the taste of an oak barrel.

It seems to me that if you want to snus while drinking something, but don't want the flavors to kill each other try Grov or Ettan. I've been on a White Russian kick the last few days and it's difficult to find a flavored snus that tastes good with it. Then again, it has a coffee taste and I enjoy Grov with a coffee so that might be it too. Either way, I find Grov to be a perfect "default snus" that goes with just about anything. Ettan is right up there too, being a little less acidic than Grov.

I am starting to think Ettan is my snus of average good.... I like retro too, but ettan is just good with everything

So as I said previously I've been on a White Russian kick, but unfortunately I've run out of Kahlua and need to wait until the end of the week to pick up a few more bottles. That leaves me with just vodka hanging around the house. So I seemed to have developed a taste for vodka, just slightly watered down, on ice. I wasn't really aware that vodka has a sweet taste, but if you do it just right, it does. Neat.

So I've been testing a few snuses with that and my old standby's Grov and Ettan have been all right but nothing really to write home about. General was a little better with the nice salty taste.. but you know what I've discovered? Tre Ankare is fantastic with vodka! I don't really know how to describe it, but after the light slightly sweet taste of the vodka it comes in with a dark and salty, almost mushroomy flavor, that is just a great compliment to the drink.

I'm constantly amazed at how snus can bring out the flavor of a drink, or how a drink can change the whole experience of a certain snus. It's like having wine after a meal.

I love bourbon. Strait is fine. If all you've got is Jim Beam then that'll do. I've noticed that the dry/white style snus goes great with sips of whatever your drinking. As far as Tre Ankare goes, it's far in my book. This snus is well made and is to my understanding the "original" dry/white portion.
