Help from anyone who has dipped in the past!

Hi Snuson, newbie here -

After making my recent switch from dipping tobacco to snus, I feel as if I'll never look back. However, my dad on the other hand, has been dipping since he was 15. He is now 45. I'm worried about the obvious effects of mouth/esophageal cancer, and am planning a "intervention" to convert him to my new found love of snus. My question to you is --

He dips exclusively skoal wintergreen. Are there any recommendations from the snuson community that will taste very similar to skoal wintergreen, with a decent nic hit (~12mg or so)?

The stronger WG snuses are Thunder Wintergreen and Jakobsson's Wintergreen. Thunder is a really in your face WG taste, the Jakobsson's is more mild. I prefer the Oden's Wintergreen myself, but moreso perhaps because it doesn't taste like a strong in your face WG taste, it's more like a "wintergreen cream soda", if that makes any sense.

I'd agree with Skell and Chad here, go with jaks wintergreen for your Dad's needs. It's a bit strong for me, but if he's used to Skoal it should be fine.

General Wintergreen could be a good choice...

but I am a dipper and a snuser, I can say one thing that dip has it's own uniqueness while snus has it's own uniqueness too....

they're two completely different tobacco experiences....... that is why probably many dippers won't switch to snus.

I see that Thunder Wintergreen Long Cut is available again. I haven't tried it myself but the nicotine will definitely be there for him and the cut may be more familiar than traditional loose snus.

Jak's wintergreen is the closest you're going to find. It's the only one that's got a heavily sweet wintergreen flavor like dip does. It's still quite a bit milder than Skoal's or Grizz's wintergreen, but as good as you're gonna get in snus.

Also, it's got higher nicotine content than regular (8mg/g) portions so that might help as well.

I've never dipped long term but I've had it, and it's quite similar. And a good ol' nic-hit!
