Kind of reminds me of the incandescent lightbulb ban. For those of you who don't know, it is illegal to manufacture, import or sell incandescent lightbulbs in the EU. Instead, you must use mercury-containing "energy-saving" lamps. Anyway, some guys tried to beat the EUDSSR at their own game, selling incandescent lightbulbs as "heatballs", to be used as heating. Same product, different use. Sadly, they were defeated in court afaik. Strange how tobacco can be both legal and illegal based on how you intend to use it, yet lightbulbs cannot.

I've started hording incandescent lamps. I despise CFLs. The color is terrible, and they waste energy. The amount you draw from the socket is only part of the equation. They still use more material, and the shipping from China costs more. They relocate the energy use, not reduce it. Also, you never see it on the box, but incandescent lamps are free to operate in the winter. ALL energy use creates heat in the end, even the photons firing off a cold bulb(well, you lose the ones that go through the windows). Those of us in cooler climates use the extra heat for the house, therefore they're free to operate.

True that. People living in "passive" or "low energy" houses know this all too well. Those houses were built taking the heat from lighting into account. Now that it's not there anymore, they simply have to use the traditional heating. It's all a huge scam. If you speak german, check out "Bulb Fiction" on youtube.

Someone commented on that on their FB page, they went very quiet after that guy posted!

Also from my reading on the law, full stop, it is illegal to sell cigarettes or cigarillos (not cigars, pipe tobacco etc) over the internet within the EU, and I know it is in the UK (strictly speaking although it isn't enforced due to supermarkets selling them via online grocery shopping).
