Hey guys,
So I caught wind of this product that is designed to rehydrate stale/dry dipping tobacco. It's called 'Chew Renew' - here is the website: Chew Renew. I wondered whether it could also be used to rehydrate dry lös and portions of snus, as I had heard dippers saying that it's better than water for rehydrating dip.
Firstly, I emailed the distributor and asked about shipping to the UK. Brilliantly, he replied that he would ship to me (from Florida) and not charge me, as he is trying to promote international sales. 3 bottles of the product cost $13.50 (about £8.50), so I ordered 3.
They arrived about a week later, here is a pic:

Now I've rehydrated snus portions with 1) water spray, and 2) a slice of apple. Both methods work okay... Well I have the best part of a roll of jakobsson's liquorice that is in the freezer, over a year old, and dry to the bone. So I let the can defrost, then sprayed the full can a couple of times (whilst turning the portions round) with the chew renew, and left it in the fridge for a couple of hours (usually 48 hours is the ballpark for rehydration from what i've read). I opened the can, to find that instead of moisture clumping in areas or the whole can being sodden - the snus was evenly moist from top to bottom! And it tasted great. There was a question on another (THE other) thread about whether - as chew renew contains peppermint oil - the product would make the snus taste of something other than itself. Well.....it doesn't. At least not enough to detract from the original flavour of the snus.
Now I'm no scientist, but I gather that soy lecithin is used amongst other things to distribute flavours/liquids, a 'releasing agent'. Well the combo of alcohol, peppermint and coconut oil with it certainly seems to do the trick - old portion snus tastes as fresh as a new batch, the flavours are really brought out :-)
I haven't tried this with lös, but thats my next task.
$13.50 for 3 bottles, and it works with snus brilliantly. Free shipping. I recommend
