    Snus to quit smoking

How many here started with snus to quit smoking cigarettes, and what type of snus did you get started with?

I started with snus cause I found it interesting and tasty. Quitting smoking wasn't a concern. That just happened as a side effect. My very first snus-like product was US Camel. That was enough to get me to look it up online, and I got the awesome 24 tin sampler from Northerner. That was easily the best intro to snus, and it's a shame they don't have it anymore. With all the ridiculous restrictions, it would be impossible for them to create its equal today, at least for Americans.

I was desperate to give up cigarettes. Tried with nicorette inhalator for months. Cold turkey for 5 months and then found snus. Giving up smoking was like falling off a log with snus and I've not smoked for 4.5 years and will never smoke again.......unless they ban all smokeless tobacco.

In an effort to quit smoking I started switching up brands of cigarettes. One day I bought a pack of Marlboro and there was a coupon for free snus. I figured what do I have to lose? I started with Marlboro (this was back when they had like 8 portions in a pack) and I noticed that the Camel SNUS had more. After they helped me cut down on smoking but not quit one day on a road trip I googled snus. That introduced me to real snus and as soon as I got home I placed an order. The day that U.P.S. delivery came was my last day as a smoker! I started with all flavored Extra Stark and moved on from there.

I actually tried to quit smoking about 5-6 times over the course of 4 years using a nicotine patch before I ever heard of snus. Twice I lasted up to 8 months before buying cigarettes again. When you've grown up from middle school to around 30 years old smoking, you've learned how to do almost everything in life with a cigarette in your hand. That is a really hard habit to break and the nicotine is only a small fraction of that battle. This last time I quit, I started using some dip (Grizzly Wintergreen specifically) because I told myself that, no matter what, I wasn't gonna go back to cigs.

Then I saw a sign for Tourney Snus at a Speedway gas station and was curious to what this spit-less tobacco was. Bought some and it sucked. Looked it up online and got directed here and to some articles about swedish-made snus and health effects. Made my first 3 can sample order from northerner and have been snus'n ever since. Although at first I was using a mix of dip and snus still, but after a while, the dip got phased out.

Same old story: I "started quitting", had difficulty keeping quitting and then used snus.
As many people, snus made showed me smoking had little to do with social life, keeping your hands busy and so on. The only thing that mattered was the drug. That is something smokers don't like to admit.

One thing i can say about smoking, is that it is social. I wouldn't have gotten any friends at the school i went to one time, if it wasn't for the smokers shed. I was simply to shy, so it helped when i went to the shed for a cigarette, to get in touch with people... Also at pubs and bars it is always easy to get in touch with other smokers, cause there is only special places for smoking. But I'm not that shy now, so i don't need it i will go on with my snus, and leave the cigarettes behind

I quit smoking using Snus as well. I felt like shit when i smoked and knew i had to give it up. I tried everything, the gum, the nic inhaler, cold turkey and even Allen Carr's books. Nothing worked till i found Snus and and i haven't looked back. It's been three and a half years since I've had a smoke and i don't miss them at all. In fact i was surprised how easy it was to quit. The first Snus i tried was General portion, and that was it i was hooked. I then went on to extra strong portions and later los Snus.

I started with Ettan white portions, which I still use along with Odens Classic Kanel, Boost and Wine & Dine which can be extremely appropriate.
I got tired of every lemon-like flavour after a while. Unfortunately, they tend to put citrus in most brands.

I quit smoking after five years with the help of snus as well. Not because I wanted too, but because my parents caught me when I was underaged and got super dissapointed. My mothers mom died from lung cancer at a very early age, and my mother quit a few years ago after a long addiction, so she was not pleased with me starting as well. So I still needed my nicotine, but didn't want to dissapoint my mom since she felt so strongly about this. I started out with Göteborgs Rapé, Grov, General, and basically every snus I could get my hands on. A few weeks in, I didn't even crave a cig and noticed a lot of benifits. Now here we are, 4 years later. Still snusing, and rarely smoking (except a few at parties, which I'm also trying to give up).

I too quit smoking with snus. My first snus, excluding camel, was skruf tranbar and a couple other types that i got in a snuff for snus trade. I believe general onyx was another. I do still smoke an odd cig here and there. The beauty of it is that i can without getting hooked again.
