Wiz Three Star Khaini

Anyone ever tried this stuff? My friend gave me a shitload of them. They are the size of mini snus pouches, and it looks like snus but I guess technically it is not. It's "filtered" Khaini, meaning it's a pouch instead of loose khaini, which is a mixture of tobacco, slaked lime and aromatics (Indian style of course). it tastes like betel nut. He gave me approximately 30 re-sealable bags that contain about 20 each. I guess there are several brands of this type of thing, available in India and the UK. He just got back from Afghanistan, and I think he got them there, but he does travel a lot to other places so who knows. I do think he said that these are available in Afghanistan though, and I doubt he was the only one using them over there.

Never heard of them, but I have seen something similar on Mr snuff, no ide what you do with it though.

Just use it like snus, at least these "filtered" ones, which just means it's portion as opposed to loose. It definitely serves the function of snus, but people who are highly concerned with TSNAs or safety might want to exercise caution? I don't know. They are weird, but not bad. Like betel nut, the flavor is heavy on a menthol element as well as typical Indian spices. I suppose it's a bit like Indian chai with camphor/menthol.

Sounds like the perfect flavour - shame about the TSNAs. Someone must be able to make a safe(r) version.

I like chai tea, but not a big menthol fan in my mouth, I don't understand why they have to put bloody menthol in everything! Just peppermint would be ok but menthol/camphor is totally different and reminds me of cough sweets! lol

Menthol is only there to hide bad taste IMO.

Also I don't know about the TSNA's, I am just assuming it's made according to much lower standards for several reasons: it's not snus, it's not refrigerated in any way, and the package says "Export Quality!". Which only leads me to believe that quality standards are low to begin with.

If you have ever smoked an Indian cigarette you will know about poor standards! lol Most Indian tobacco products are like that, their snuff for example smells like cat piss! Good nic hit though lol.

Never had the pleasure of trying it, however the thought of saffron flavoured snus makes me feel a bit ill! Would be like coriander snus, I phucking hate coriander! lol

I know in several of the studies floating around here in the health section always lists Indian oral tobacco as egregiously worse than all others (by huge amounts).

From the look of the packaging and your description..............this has all the tell tail signs of an Indian tobacco (or at least a very close kin)

That said…..someone mentioned Indian snuff……….that can be an entirely different matter………….............there are some very fine Indian snuffs out there that I use regularly and without the slightest worry………. Dholakia being but one example

Bottom line: I would be leery until I knew more about it

I have a tin of the saffron open now. It's ok. I don't like it as well as the spice. They're both "interesting". I have a hard time saying they're good, and I have a hard time saying they're bad. They're just a nice interesting diversion. I'm sorry they aren't on the market anymore.
