It took me three tries of general before I liked it. Once I got a taste for it I loved it. Now I've burnt out on it so I steer clear but I still have some in the freezer for a rainy day.

For mint try Oden's Cold, no sweetner in it so will be what you are after.
All snus has salt in it so it does come through but try Jakobssons Classic (not the strong one) thats quite citrusy and not too salty.
Odens Cold,
Great spearmint flavor no gakr sweetener.
Also IMHO a better snus than General mint.

Recommendations For A New User
Hello all. I just tried snus for the first time last week and I don't want to jump the gun but I do believe this might be my solution for enjoying tobacco and nicotine with out smoking. I have been reading up on the different snus products available and have tried a hand full so far. To cut to the chase, my favorite so far is General Mint white portion but I would like recommendations for a non mint flavor. I tried General Classic Blend and White portion and they may be an acquired taste which I have not acquired yet. I like the mint but don't always want mint with everything (coffee, beer...) but the non mint General I have tried is a bit to peppery for me, it's like I swallowing pepper water when there is juice to swallow. Is the pepper taste indicative of all natural tobacco snus or is that the flavoring General uses? I really like the subtle salty toned down taste of the General mint after 20-30 mins. I would like to try some of the flavors like coffee, melon, maybe one of the Christmas blends out there but again I don't think I would want a flavor like that all the time. Any mellow non peppery recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I always recommend that smokers who did not dip in the past to start with Northerners... as for mint, heck that goes with about anything to me. Anyways, I would just use the General Mint as your go to snus since you like overall, try some others if you like but keep your I on the prize of replacing cigs with snus. You will have plenty of time to try other flavors/brands.Last edited by piks101; 16-03-14, 04:49 PM.

Thanks for the speedy responses and recommendations! piks101- are you referring to the Northerner website for buying snus or the brand of snus sold on the site? Andy105- Thanks for the input. I've already spent a little time on snubie and forum looking for info and being new to this I'm glad to hear the site comes recommended.

Vabriar, everyone has different tastes, and yours will change. Some of us have a favorite daily regular brand, and alternate some with others that they like, just to mix it up a bit. Röda Lacket is my main snus now. Clean tobacco flavor with a hint of natural fruitiness, almost like a mild pipe tobacco. I always have a few different cans open in the fridge that I go to depending on what I feel like, but Röda is always in my pocket. Do a lot of sampling and you'll get to a few brands that you'll want to keep around. Keep trying new ones, regardless, because there's so many to choose from that you might find something you really like. Snus kept a lot of us from going back to cigarettes, and it's great. Stick with that and you'll find yourself hardly even thinking about cigarettes again.
