If you start looking at the politics of tobacco it gets pretty ugly. There are millions of dollars/euros flowing into tobacco control, mostly from pharmaceutical companies. In the states it also comes from the master settlement which is money from tobacco companies. The more people smoke the more tobacco control makes from the master settlement. Lots of folks in tobacco control are making a very nice living off the backs of smokers. These include the likes of The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Tobacco Free Kids, and on and on.

Here are a few blogs that show the huge amount of corruption gong on

Tobacco control and our own governments have no interest in public health. There only interest is keeping the money flowing. TC is really nothing more then PR front groups for drug companies.

If the idea of tobacco harm reduction becomes mainstream these people would be out of work and lots of money would stop flowing. How are you going to tax the recreational use of nicotine in the form of smokeless tobacco when it is known to the public that it is 99% less harmful then smoking. All the rational for the current tax structure falls apart. That would be like trying to tax caffein at the same level we now tax cigarettes. There are lots of interested parties that will do and say anything to keep THR from becoming mainstream. That includes the EU ban, extreme taxation, lies and misinformation about the dangers of smokeless tobacco, denormalization of tobacco users, etc.

Just how long do these EU-bastards think they can get away with what they're doing?

Until now, people like John Dalli have been able to pretend not to know anything about snus (besides the well known anti-snus-propaganda from publications that are aimed at children and full of barefaced lies).
But now, that they are reviewing the tobacco-directive, they must know that snus is harmless and a good substitute for cigarettes. Even the EU's own SCENIHR-study has shown that and I do not know any other snus-study that shows any statistical hint that snus could be more dangerous than coffee. At worst, the studies have an unbased tobacco-phobic undertone in the comments and recommendations, but no substantial argument against snus.

When will the EU-commission be sued for killing people knowingly by depriving smokers of a usable and harmless alternative?

        Cheers!

But, it's OK to keep killing people, as long as the ££££ keep coming, and some people become super rich

Yep, just make a point not to fund the tobacco Nazis through their 'NRT' products that largely don't work and just act as a cash cow to get you back to cigarettes.

                      * buy tobacco off Toque and make your own los snus - love toque and happily sniff it all day long, never tried making los with it though, intrigued

                      * order from PP - hell yes!!

                      * smoke a pipe - still the "oral cancer" risk and can't do it indoors, love a pipe though so always a goodun

                      * GN - hell yes

                      * Makla - that stuff is just wrong!! lol
All good Ansel mate, don't forget the picanelli bits, stronger than OT and Mr Snuff sells them, not tried them yet though.

They need to do a real world survey and they would find snus saves kittens and baby seals! If I hadn't found snus I would still be smoking too. Now I have no desire to smoke, take away my snus and I would kill those kittens and seals that it saved!

You all need to go to Sweden, find a proper tobacco shop and make bulk buys to last you a year, I think it will be worth it, cause the snus shops selling to EU are expensive as hell. Anyone coming to Malmö I can aid in the purchasing.

Well, this sucks big time. The freaking world is a mess these days. We need to take control back from the governments if there is anyway that we can. How can we unite to possibly do something to help? What are the options for us to let the right people know that snus is saving lives? There has to be something that can be done. Don't we have some attorneys that are members here that might have some ideas and put something together to try and stop this shit? Isn't there some kind of petition or something can be put together that we can all sign that might help then lets do it. Make it general enough that we can appeal to the members of snuscentral and go smokeless and other online tobacco forums to also get involved. Its time to unite and give em hell. Even tho I'm doing what I can to help the members at SnusOn the governments are making me sick and tired of all this bullshit. This just isn't right and its pissing me off big time.

                            end of rant......for now
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Well I am an attorney (solicitor as we are called here) but i specialise in one area of law rather than general practice, its been a LONG time since I studied any type of EU law etc.

HOWEVER, the EU members can petition their EU parliament representative, write letters (if we could come up with a template that just needs name and address adding) spam the fookers with it. UK members (and any other EU members) can write to their members of parliament, we have spoken to ours many times and get on very well with him, he has just been promoted into the cabinet (inner circle of UK government) so when we go down to see him I will certainly be bringing snus onto the agenda and our membership of the EU (cans of snus will be distributed around the houses of parliament, which is one of the few places in the UK exempt from the smoking ban!).

I have already converted a few people in work to snus, I do not and will not go back to smoking, but I enjoy tobacco, its legal so I should be able to enjoy it in the medium in which I choose. People just don;t want to hear the words, tobacco and safe or safer in the same sentence, smoking it is bad for you, can't deny it, however snus is a hell of alot safer than smoking it!

There ya go. Thats a start. Ya need someone to put the words together for everything and get the template out there. Gather the names and address of the people that need the letters and list them. Send the template and addresses to everybody to fill out and sign and post. Use your email contacts, facebook [yea make a page to save snus!!] Get all the likes you can, contact other websites with the info. Its a bit of work to get started but once the ball starts rolling it might help save snus.

Taxing snus is one thing but banning it is crazy.

                                Load em up boys
