Everybody please read

Not sure who it was, but someone on here once said something along the lines of "What I put in my own damn mouth is my business and no-one else's".

This sums up my feelings exactly.

They've stopped us smoking in public because of alleged passive smoking risks, they should be grateful there are people using something that absolutely, categorically cannot have any passive effects on anyone. If there are any ill-effects from snus, then we're all big enough, old enough, and informed enough to understand that.

So angry.

Im new on here. Im a medical Doctor. I smoked for 20 years and had many attempts at quitting tobacco(all failed). The Government and the anti-tobacco lobby made hard-working people like me social outcasts. As I am a professional doctor I can see that this was not without Justification. The risk that cigarettes posed where obvious to me as I dealt with many dying patients who had lung disease etc. I wanted to quit them but was unable to do so. However, I found the moral and sactimony of both the Government and the anti-smoking lobby hard to stomach. Mixing the moral high ground but at the same time happy to profit from from smokers. This is sheer nauseating hypocrisy at best.

Anyway, I was recommended Snus by another Doctor. We both discussed the evidence available and were greatly encouraged
by what we read.The evidence for Snus was fairly robust. The evidence against was, well almost non existent. So much so that we are both now committed to Snus. The immediate health benefits were felt within a month or two. Now my Girlfriend no longer endures my second hand smoke. My chest is much clearer. I have massively cut down my risks for cardiorespiratory pathologies.

I think it is extremely irrational that within a two hundred metre radius from where I live there are three tobacco vendors, where i can go and buy as many cigarettes as I like and smoke myself into carbon monoxide poisoning and probably very few people will bat an eyelid. Maybe just the odd scowl of disapproval. But I cant reason at all why these people as have been discussed have it in for Snus. There is a lot of Ignorance here. Its almost like homophobia. Sometimes I think its just sanctimony of the highest degree.

As I am of a scientific background I welcome any evidence these people can produce that may shed new light on the matter. At the moment this is severely lacking.

As for online bullying and threats, this is merely a sign that these people have lost the argument and they know it. Go ahead and photograph this post. Im terrified! Maybe also there is a large dark vehicle outside my house right now with agents inside just waiting to swoop on me when I go for my jog. Maybe Cancer man from the x-files will be sitting in the back chain smoking!!

But seriously, to all who persecute the loyal snus faithful, I say we are in an era of evidence based medicine. That means we leave the leeches in the Jar as until there is such times as there is EVIDENCE!! So take your heads from up your bottoms please. Give us evidence or pack up and go.

What a well thought out post ... Looks like we need many more of your sort on board both here and in whatever official channels exist to argue against the lunacy of a much less harmful form of tobacco being banned while a deadly one is freely available on every street corner.

Anyone know what the official channels available to us are? The lack of a voice is what leads snusers deprived of their safer product to get so angry.
