What flavour snus would you like to see that isn't currently made?

I was just thinking about some of my recipes - and the snus that I have enjoyed over the years - and the ones I never got to try.

What flavours would you like to see in a new snus? What do you think would work with the underlying flavour of tobacco (rather than trying to mask all taste of tobacco and adding strong artificial flavours)?

It's easy to get caught in the trap of plain/bergamot/juniper/liquorice or a more artificial candy flavour but there must be loads more tastes out there that would work in harmony with the tobacco.

    What have you got?

    Bergamot lös sans smoke :^P

A bit more seriously, I think coffee would be good. No sweetness, and not a strong flavor. It should take a couple minutes before you decide it tastes like coffee.

Would pipe tobacco flavours work? Like cherry and vanilla. Rum and maple. Or would that overpower the tobacco?

I agree with cherry. Not overpowering like Skoal cherry, but a nice subtle cherry flavour, not too sweet.

Yeah, I agree with that. A black cherry kind of flavour.

Some of the Indian/Asian spices and things complement tobacco well imho.

I have been experimenting with wild plant we have here in the UK called "meadowsweet" which has the most sumptuous strong scent of new-mown hay with a slight wintergreen edge to it and is traditionally dried to add to apple juice or white wine to give an extra heady scent to the drink. And I think that with a mild snus it might just work.

I've also been having a play with ginger which I think is a brilliant marriage with darker spicy tobacco but no-one really makes a ginger snus (I think Nick & Johnny might have a bit of it in there).

And then there's coffee like lxskllr brings up - a snus that had the aromatic creamy element of the smell of a freshly ground coffee bean would be the best thing in the world but I've heard that's hard to do! The old swedish match brand Rallarsnus was described as tasting of coffee - but all recent attempts at coffee snus taste to me like instant coffee (i.e not tasting of coffee - just coffee flavouring!) I don't know if it's possible.

                Keep em coming!

Root from a tree. It tastes kind of like rootbeer, and with enough imagination you can get wintergreen from the taste. Wkipedia says it's kind of bad for you, but I'd think snus quantities shouldn't be too bad. Looks like you can use purified extract to avoid the toxic portion...
