Pioneer is very good but it's definitely not plain. They use a bergamot flavour which is quite different to general - and to my taste it does contain smoke flavour too (I have no proof of this though). The tobacco is very dark and fine ground and is a strong part of the taste though.
The only plain snus I think was Gotlands test runs of plain lös. Tre Ankare, Ettan and Prima Fint from Swedish Match come very close - but I think all have some smoke flavouring too. Kardus is very much a plain tobacco taste too but with booze on top.

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!
Some good ideas floating around this place. My thought is, I kid you not Dr.Pepper. Seriously give it a try. Have a snus and try a sip. They can compliment each other so well!! Not saying as sweet as Dr.P but the tones could work in my opinion.
I don't like Dr. Pepper (or any soda) with snus, all the sugar tends to overpower the taste for me. I could see it being an interesting flavor if done right, but I guess they'd need licensing from coca-cola which I don't see happening..

What's with the smoke flavor??
General "smoke flavoring"
Makes me sick ...sux
Well tattooer it comes down to the fact that snus was originally made from fire-cured tobacco before they worked out that the TSNAs that give health risks come from that kind of tobacco. The flavouring is to make it taste more like it used to I suppose.
It's also a very good masking agent for the funky taste you get with just plain air cured tobacco unless it's top quality stuff - bergamot and liquorice also cover it up well!

I would definitely purchase a coffee and/or vanilla snus...I'm surpised such a flavour doesn't exist (maybe it does, or has done in the past?)
Other than that, I also think ginger would be very interesting.
mocha maple is definitely a vanillaish flavor to me. The smell is kind of like a spicy mild licorice but it tastes like a vanilla to me... I could see someone saying it tastes like coffee.
Ah yes, I actually bought a tin of Mocca Black Maple when I was in Sweden last August- one of the first snus I tried. I remember it had a very nice, not overpowering, slightly sweet flavour...if only I could get my hands on some here....
