Surprising Disappointments

Kronan los. Not that kronan came highly recomended, but it's the only los I ever tried and I could not get much flavor. I thought los would be more flavorful than a portion.

I'm disappointed in regular portions overall as compared to white portions. However, at room temperatue, regular portions improve.

As for specific brands, Knox is by far the worst snus I've tried. I know many like it, and it is cheap, but it is far too harsh and not pleasant tasting.

I also didn't much like Lucky Strike regulars. They seemed entirely too mild.

Don't like Lucky Strike regulars cause the taste is too mild? OK so you may have even more weirder tastes than Xobeloot :P

Definitely anything Gotland's. I won't say it's all crap, because tastes differ and I know my own taste has fluctuated wildly since I started snusing.

Also Lucky Strike regular portions were horrifyingly salty when I first tried them, but last week, after they'd been sitting in my freezer for a couple of months, I found that saltiness to be pleasant.

For sure. The LS whites are awesome, but the regulars suck all sorts of ass.

The one biggest letdown for me was the Montecristo Los. Fantastic tin, lousy snus. I guess I hate anything with even a hint of bergamot. Disgusting.

Actually, that is why I MUCH prefer Luck Strike Whites. One of my top 5. The taste of Lucky Strike, but NOT synthetic and no runniness. More muted flavor that just comes on much better IMHO>

I'm giving Jackobssons Ice Fruit another try right now because i read it was good, and I think its crap. Then again its my fault for ordering "ice fruit" when I don't like the flavored stuff to begin with. This tastes like toothpaste.

Haven't tried much los yet, only Grov in fact, but so far not into my tin of Ettan. I dont get much flavor from it. I find the portions a little boring as well, but I bet the brand will grow on me. After reading many complaints of saltiness, I realize I am way on the salty side of flavor preferences. Then again I have been known to enjoy spoonfuls of soy sauce , so my tastes are maybe a bit unusual.

Other disappointments have been Rape and RL, too flowery. I have in my freezer 3 tins that my friend ordered and didn't even want to keep. They are straight-up nasty and for emergencies only: Offroad coffee vanilla, phantom blue, probe whiskey.

So far favorites are Grov in any form, Skruf orig., Knox, Gotlands yellow, montecristo, jackobbsons was pretty good, and general original and onyx is not bad. Didn't care for the whites much but that was only my 2nd tin.

Sounds like there are lots of fellow ex-smokers here. Snus for the win! I would interested if there are any true Camel fans out there. Gladly it was not Camel who introduced me to snus, but I did get a chance to smell it the other day. Smelled like the anti-snus. I think I might resort to chew before that stuff... Also curious if those who started with Camel now prefer a sweeter snus. Its crazy how much we talk about snus...

The one major disappointment I had was with the OR Coffee/Vanilla. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it but I wound up just struggling through the can. I'm one of the few that actually likes the OR portions or at least doesn't think they are that bad. The OR Coffee/Vanilla just never struck a chord with me and always seemed to have an old moldy taste. I will probably order a can of it down the road a few months just to make sure if I got a bad batch or not.

I'd have to say PM 1847.

Honestly, that has been the only tin of snus I have thrown away. I kept it for a few months and would try a portion here and there but it just would not agree with me. It tasted like a bowl full of dog nuts soaked in elephant shit.

Not that I would know, but that's how bad it tasted to me.

I agree. OR C/V and Phantom Blue los are the only two cans I have ever disliked enough not to finish them. That is saying a lot considering I live off of about 250 dollars a month.

Biggest disappointment?? There has been snus I hated (Level) but that wasn't really a disappointment, I didn't have big hopes for it. Probably a tie between Ice Fruit and PM. I love the PM can, but such a bad aftertasrte, I finally did throw away my last can.

Göteborgs Rapé #2 and General would be the ones for me. Göteborgs was just too flowery for my taste, and while that may change later, just doesn't appeal to me. General is too much citrus and pepper for me. I can take something with some pepper, but General was too strong for my taste. I'm glad I picked Lucky Strike White portions, because the flavor there is strong enough as is for me. I don't think the regular portions would sit well with me at all.
