GN. I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas and New year. I want to thank you and all at Odenssnus ( Örjan, Alberto, etc. ) for all the hard work you've done looking after us and for providing a service second to none in 2012. Here's to 2013 being the best year ever for GN and co. Thanks again my friend
Watermelon Los
Ok the next snus I tried was the Watermelon los. I was full expecting to be underwhelmed by this since I usually avoid tuity fruity snus like a plague. However I must say this was a pleasant surprise………….in fact…………..it was more than a pleasant surprise…………….I really like it…………….For my rotation it offered a nice change of pace
As Lx said there is a definite Jolly rancher flavor. However, it is not a candy bomb. It is tart but not sappy sweet. This tartness plays very well against a spicy tobacco base. I think Whalen referred to it as a Jalapeno flavor. Now if you are like me, reading a review about a Jalapeno-Watermelon snus sounds extremely nasty……………… BUT IT WORKS……….. and works very well. The natural sweetness of the watermelon plays against the spicy snus……………while the spicy tobacco balances the watermelon and keeps it from becoming a desert only snus.
The result is a complex snus that is unique to any I have tried. Would I buy it again……….you bet. For me it would provide a nice change up to my otherwise Spartan natural/traditional line up.
Let me conclude with a brief reflection:
So far of the three trial snus types from GN that I’ve tried the thing that stands out to me is that they are all unique to the market and they are regular strength. Add to this the fact that they have all been superb and finely crafted…………and I think you have products that will sell and find their place in folks rotations. Not only that, they will be a welcomed addition to the standard (and somewhat stagnate) offerings available on today’s market.
Well done GN!!!!
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
Just received a tin of los "Lime N2". I don't remember giving GN my address, so I'll have to assume that GN is actually Santa Claus (or GN stole his list -- quite possible), but this is scrumptious. Thank you!
As for suggestions: You could tone down the lime even more -- it tastes a bit synthetic and hides the character of your tobacco that I love. It has the perfect (high) moisture content for such a coarse grind, so hand-baking is a cinch. Is there actually any Vitamin C/citric acid in the mix? Perhaps you could list that, and call it "Scurvy No More".
Final thoughts on the lime, Bowmore, and coffee...
I don't think I'd change a thing with any of them. I like the flavor profiles, and the flavor balance. It's been suggested the coffee flavor should be boosted, and I'd agree if it were sold under the coffee name. The flavor's a little subtle, and some people could end up disappointed. I'd solve that by not calling it coffee. Call it Gothenburg(Petersburg maybe?) Noire, or something like that, and say the flavor profile has hints of coffee and dark cream. That way people aren't expecting a flavor explosion, but will still have an idea of what it tastes like. I really like that flavoring is light, and I wouldn't like it as well if it had more flavoring.
Yeah that lime lös was great and can't wait to buy few rolls of it. One thing i like about it that in wasn't so fine grind. Are all the other Odens lös's same coarse grind or are some of them finer grind like ettan?
Don't know why so many finns don't like Odens 'cause what i've seen now it's very good.
IMO the Oden's Lime Portion is the best tasting Oden's product I have ever used and the best lime snus on the market....I only had one can, but it was gone within 24hrs...I hope it hits US markets soon, or that kind Mr.GN includes some lime snus for me when he ships my package full of love.
