      Lime Snus

So far I have really liked all the test cans I have tried (I have one more to work through and that is the Mellon).

The lime to me shares all the characteristics of the Watermelon with 2 exceptions

      1. it is lime flavored (but the lime has the same Jolly Rancher taste as the Watermelon)

      2. The base tobacco is not spicy like that of the Watermelon (to me this is the big difference) The Spiciness of the Watermelon makes it intriguing and unique. However, being intriguing and unique might well mean a limited market sector of interest

If I had to choose between the lime and Watermelon, it would hinge on #2 (spice and Watermelon or milder and lime)

Regardless, of which one wins out they are both very good offerings…………..and for me each will prove to be a very nice change of pace from my otherwise mostly natural flavored line up……..also I might add…………both are a very long overdue missing flavor profile from the los market.

I’ll get back with my final review and give my wrap up of the entire group at that time

        Bowmore Snus

From a review I posted in another thread (my final review on the Mellon is still pending)

That is exactly my take........at one moment I would think maybe a slight bump up in the flavor.....and the next I would think....what if we tell GN to bump it up and it turns into Probe.......... I would then shudder

Also the Islay snus did something I have never had another snus do..........it grew in flavor as I went through the can.

It started as a very good subtle Islay flavored tobacco and as it went the Islay became more pronounced as did the other background spices. In fact, the closest thing I could think of to compare it to was a light Jules snus (it wasn't a jules by any means......but there was something in the background flavor that reminded me of a jules).

Now this flavor development may have two explanations………about midway through the can I hopped in the car and drove to PA to the in-laws for Christmas…..so I had more time to focus on the flavor as I drove and the family slept.

The other explanation is that once the trip was underway the can was no longer in refrigeration………the warmth may well have opened up the tobacco (like a good Islay) and let the flavor develop.

One thing I can say for sure is that when this is released……..it is a definite roll buy…..AND….when I get a roll I will try working through a can without refrigerating it……….to see if the flavor opens up again

In the end this is an A++++ snus…………. it and the Coffee are the first two I would buy out of all the test cans that GN sent….When it hits the market……get it……. try it….love it….drive to PA with it…………my bet is it will be an instant classic

          Melon Snus
To me this one has a very close flavor profile to that of the Watermelon, with the exception that the flavor is cantaloupe/honeydew verses watermelon. As such the main flavor is less sweet and more creamy than the Watermelon also the base tobacco seems less spicy than the WM (mind you it is still spicy but not as noticeable as the WM…..maybe that is because with the WM the spice was a surprise but by the time I got to the Melon I had seen it before…..regardless it seems the spiciness of the base Tobacco proceeds from (moving from spicy to mild) WM to Melon to Lime.

In the end, the Melon is well balanced. It is still sweet but not as much as the WM. Also, the melon flavoring seems more natural and less like a Jolly Rancher than the WM. There also seems to be an element of cream playing in the background (but this may just be the cantaloupe). It is another solid offering from GN and one that I enjoyed trying very much

          Final Breakdown
Of all the snus flavors GN sent I would buy the Coffee and Islay by the rolls. They are two instant purchases and regulars in the rotation. The only suggestion I have regarding these two is:

          1) Bring the coffee flavor up so it is a main (verses a background) player in the blend

          2) I would bring the Bowmore flavor up but just a tad

Finally, when these come to market, I plan to let the Islay breathe at room temp during use and see if it opens up as it did during the trial run.

Now the Regarding the Melon, Watermelon, and Lime……of these three I will probably only buy one by the roll (that is not a reflection on the snus but on my personal taste preferences-- I like more natural, traditional flavors). That said, any one of these would provide a nice and welcomed change of pace to my otherwise somewhat monochrome lineup. However, as I reflect on each one I think my preference would be the Lime (with WM being a close second). The reason is that I found it to be the most subtle of the three and thus most likely to endure prolonged use without burnout.

In the end I want to thank GN for letting me try these great snuses. All are excellent and are much MUCH needed additions to the world of los. When they hit the market each is a must try

          Thanks GN!!!!
