Well - I have successfully made portions from using an icetool + a hair straightener + these portion bags. But it is very time consuming.

I have tried the SnusMaster which is supposed to work with regular loose snus ... just for the record - it doesn't! The stickyness of loose snus just clumps together and it doesn't allow the machine to fill the bags at all - that's the case for my own loose snus and commercial loose snus.

I think it could be made to work well if I kept the home-made snus very dry at the end of the process and not add glycerine. Then I could spray the filled portion bags with a flavoured solution like they do commercially - it's an extra step but it may just be quicker than an icetool!

I think whatever you do with home-grown home-made snus - portions are a luxury item! If you want to make the whole thing less time consuming and fiddly you should learn to love lös or get in to making twist cuts which I find just as convenient as a portion and still spit free.

          Cheers

I have searched ALL THE INTERNET
For portion material hoping to find thin filter paper that is heat sealable..

Thanks Skell! I like them too - just a shame there aren't enough to go around! Next year though.

I'm particularly proud of my "can" for them ... nice and organic made for me by a chap I know from the folk festival circuit.

It's great that he's made that video. But frankly - unless the process can be made faster or semi-automated then this is a labour of love that almost nobody will find worthwhile!

For my home-made snus I use the prillan portion bags which come ready formed and fit an icetool or syringe. Even with these I take more than 5 minutes to portion up 20 for a can. With the methods in this video it must take 2 minutes to make one portion!

I wish there was some kind of technology that existed to feed loose snus and portion material in one end and get snus portions just come out the other end without buying a whole snus factory! Without doubt for home-made snus users portion snus is a massive luxury.

                      Cheers

                            Make your own portions

I'm sure this information exist somewhere on Snus On but after doing a quick search I couldn't find anything. So if it has already been answered I apologize for not finding it. As a lot of you know I have a weird phobia about trying los snus as I don't want to stick straight tobacco in my mouth. I know the reasoning doesn't make sense and most of you will say suck it up and just try it but to be honest I'm not going to that way. I am intrigued by the the amount you get with los and how supposedly the flavors and more prominent and it basically tastes better. A few of you have mentioned you make your own portions out of los and this is definitely something I would be interested in. My questions are what do you use for the tea bag material (calm down Whalen) what's the best to use and where do you purchase them. I'm hoping to get something that won't open up and spill los into my mouth as I've had portions open up on me in the past and as soon as one flake gets in my mouth I have to spit the portion out. Any info on this subject would be appreciated, thanks.
