    Snus sabbatical

I recently got invisalign braces put in. They're basically plastic moulds that go over my upper and lower teeth. The orthodontic surgeon says to keep them in a minimum of 22 hours per day. Since I got them put in snus hasn't been the same.

They say that different people are dependent on nicotine at varying levels. I guess I am not a very addictive personality. I went from 12+ OPs per day, with some sterk thrown in for fun, to one per day, maybe. I don't notice any craving for nicotine. I do notice, when I take the braces out to brush my teeth or eat, that I crave the feeling of something in my upper lip. The braces take care of that nicely. With the braces and a snus in, it feels like waaaay too much. I feel like a squirrel stuffing nuts in my mouth - it's just too full of objects. Also, when I snus with the braces in, it turns my saliva brown, which then gets caught in the braces, and is not a pleasant sight.

So I am taking a snus sabbatical. I plan on coming back once I get these out in a year, at the very least because I have $200+ worth of snus sitting in the freezer. My question to you gents is about snuff. I like the idea of occasionally indulging in snuff, and it is a good bit cheaper than snus. Does anyone have any good links on the health consequences, if any, of snuff? I know that snus is about as bad for you as a cup of coffee. What about snuff? Granted, this would only be for a year while I use the braces, and it's got to be better than cigarettes...

Last thing: before some person tells me to go and search for it, know that I have. I am technologically impaired, apparently.

    Many thanks for the help.

There's almost nothing regarding snuff, but I consider it as safe, if not safer than snus. The only negative reports I've seen are from the 18th century, and the person that made them may or may not have even been a doctor. In case, it was too long ago, and details are too sparse, so I give them no weight.

I fcuking hate the logic of those articles. It's like saying: "Water is a liquid. Pottasium cyanide is also a liquid. Pottasium cyanide will kill you, therefore, water will kill you too."

Bro I hope you will still be around to post some

As far as the health issue goes.........it is probably the safest form of tobacco out there

While you are at it you might want to check out the Beginner's Guide to snuff.

I did check out that thread, and also one other, when I placed my order last night. My choices were:

            1 x Poschl Bayern Prise Brasil 10g $4.29
            1 x Poschl Gletscherprise 10g $3.29
            1 x Ozona President 7g $3.75
            1 x De Kralingse Bon Bon 12.5g $2.95
            1 x De Kralingse Prins Regent 12.5g $2.95
            1 x De Kralingse Macuba 12.5g

Hopefully I'll like these. I definitely plan to stay around for the homosexual banter courtesy of PP, Whalen, and the artist formerly known as Extreme.

Now, a question for any snuff users: Are bullets worth it? If I don't care about the difference between $4 and $40, which kind, if any, would you get?

I don't like bullets. They're finicky, and under dose. I prefer pinching for finer snuffs, and dumping on the back of my hand for coarser.

LMAO!! thats why we want you to stay around mate.

Good luck with the snuff. You definately need to try the Dholakia White.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Much love, PP. I am not going anywhere. The snuff forums seem to be a step or four down from snuson...

I have a few high quality metal bullets but they are wasting away collecting dust on the shelf. I like the relatively inexpensive plastic snuff boxes. I always have one in my pocket and use them daily.

This is exactly the type of advice I want. I thought to myself that a bullet would probably just be one more thing to clean. I also read on a snuff forum that the metal ones can get shards of metal in your nose... ouch!

In: re: hundreds of different scents... I know! It blew my mind how many brands there were, each with 10 or 20 scents. All snuff cans are cheap too. Makes me wonder why a manufacturer or six hasn't gone out of business. Guess the production process must be cheaper than snus or cigarettes. Mind you, it's not like I care: cheap is good!!

I'm likewise making the transition from snus to snuff. I still dig snus, it's just a bit too expensive at the moment. With 5 cans left, 3 of which minis, now is certainly the time for me to make this transition.

Fortunately, snuff is cheap. That said, I would definitely recommend an acrylic snuff bullet. While it may not be my preferable method, it is certainly more discreet than taking a pinch in public. Also, it can be used with ease while driving or if your hands are dirty. and they can be had for ~$3 and will allow you to try a small sample of a snuff you're on the fence about. If the snuff sucks, no loss and bullet gained.

When placing smaller orders, I'd also recommend ordering directly from the manufactures to save on shipping.

I'd chime in a little bit here. I use snuff also, but I've only recently gotten into it.

                            1. Get a variety, find out what you like. Just because it sounds good doesn't mean you will enjoy it in snuff form. I'd suggest buying the 10 for 9 sample set from Toque. You can pick 10 of their different snuffs to try out, and it's quite cheap. Or order a variety pack from mistersnuff. Either way you can't go wrong.

                            2. Don't bother getting all the fancy stuff like snuff boxes, spoons, bullets, etc, until you become more familiar with snuff and find out whether or not you really like it. I tried to get my uncle into snuff, and he ordered a snuff box, a spoon, and found out it "wasn't for him". So he was out a bit extra because of the goodies. It sucks for him, but I ended up getting a free snuff spoon, and a free snuff box.

                            3. Give it some time. Snuff is different and may seem unpleasant at first, but it will grow on you. You WILL sneeze, but don't give up on it if you don't like it at first.

                            4. Buy something soft to blow your nose on. A $1 cotton walmart bandana will not rub your nose raw like paper towels will.

I use the snuffhouse plastic boxes. They stay very well sealed and don't leak out snuff in your pocket. The top opens for pinching and they have a slider on the side it you want to tap out the snuff. The Mr. snuff plastic snuff boxes are essentially the same but with slightly different dimensions. I don't own any of those but that's what I have heard.
