Goodbye, fair snus, I hardly knew ye...

    Damnit. I miss snus.

I got invisalign braces a month or so back, which meant I had to stop snusing. The tobacco got stuck in the upper braces, which turned my entire facade brown, which meant I had to quit if I wanted to keep. So, I quit. It was honestly pretty easy. I went down from 14 or 15 a day to 1 or 2 (when I was soaking the invisalign in cleaning solution). There were never really any killer nic cravings.

I got some snuff to experiment with, but it's really not the same. I'll use it 5 or 6 times a day, but I honestly sneeze it all out quite quickly. It just doesn't do anything for me. I have some more brands on order to see if I fall in love with one, but I honestly doubt I will. Snuff is nice but will never equal snus.

I tried a regular portion today just to see what it was like, and had to spit it out because it was too much nic. Snuff doesn't deliver nearly the same punch as snus, and the snuff I am having doesn't really do anything in terms of satisfaction... just a new, interesting hobby to take up.

The funniest thing is that I am not really happy to have quit. I loved snus so much, and not just for the nicotine. I love the tobacco plant, really, and snus is a beautiful marriage of tobacco-enjoyment and health freedom. The world does not have many guilt-free pleasures, but snus was one of them.

The million-dollar question is: will I return to snus once I get the invisalign out?

From what I'm getting from your post, I think you will. You seem like the ret of us and know that snus will not harm and only is beneficial to your well-being.

If you can quit everything, why not quit? Otherwise, if the enjoyment outweighs the hassle, come on back. Either that, or say fsck the braces, and use snus anyway. Tell people you paid extra for brown ones cause they work better ;^)

        +1.....
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
