He says "I'm going out for a smoke." I'm like, "Nah, it's too cold, I'm doing something else" and showed him my snus. I offered him one, smelled it, and was like nah, I prefer cigarettes. I smoked a few with him today, and finally broke down and just snussed. I was hesitant to do it in front of him too. I got so sick of smoking, snus tastes and feels waaay better. What you guys say about the snus always winning is very true.
Offered my grandpa who smokes snus..

The road to snus is very different for smokers than for smokeless tobacco users. I've gotten the same shrugs from smokers. I first tried Camel "snus" as a smoker, and though it was pretty disappointing, it was a crucial step in finding the real deal. RJR designed it for smokers after all. Having that US-made bridge probably helps convince the old xenophobes of its legitimacy, too. Not that your grandpa fears foreigners, but smokers are known for severe brand loyalty -- switching up administration routes is an even bigger leap.
Frankly, I've always loved the smell of snus. But one thing I miss about smoking is all the people I meet by loitering in smoking areas.

I don't know why people think Ettan tastes like plain tobacco. It tastes like liquid smoke, and is the saltiest snus available. If anything approaches "plain" it's Pioneer, and even that's up for debate.
It's difficult to say what a smoker would like because their tastebuds are shot to hell in the first place. Cigarettes don't taste like how they smell, so why would that be the barrier to entrée for snus? The major hurdle I've witnessed is simply asking smokers to give up the satisfying breathing exercise and constant putting of something in the mouth. A smoker who complains about the smell more likely is just afraid of missing their routine.

Truly there is little about a cigarette that "tastes" good. Our brain just takes over in the quest for more nicotine telling us it does taste good.
I can understand the taste argument more from former dippers than I can former smokers.
That being said I find Grov to be more of a natural plain tobacco taste. Although I do like Ettan more.
