Why do I hate most Snus ugh.

So some of you by now probably realize I am very partial to mint flavors in my snus. Don't really know why I don't chew mint gum and do not use mints very often. I did smoke menthol cigarettes for about 10 years and when I quit I quit using Mint Commit lozenges before I switched to snus. Anyway I don't really expect an answer here just need to vent a bit. In the year or so I have been using snus I have tried almost 25 varieties most I can't stand what so ever and have to force myself to use again. A few I have grown to tolerate as a change of pace but don't really enjoy them like I do mint. For example I can tolerate good ole Goat Rape, Oden's Lakrits, Thunder Berry, The new Jaks 152 from the test panel, and one or two others. I don't really like any of the traditional flavors although tre ankare was ok. The thing I find weird is I love fruit flavors and cinnamon and absolutely despise Cool Orange, and the few Cinnamon flavors I have tried. I have a portion of Jaks Melon in right now and its kinda making me sick even though I really like the flavor of melon in the real world. I guess my problem is that I just don't enjoy the taste of tobacco and need the mint to over power it. I love Oden's Cold, General, Mint, and Thunder Frosted. The Thunder Cool Mint was not bad either. I don't understand why anyone hasn't made a cinnamon flavor that resembles what Americans are used to for Cinnamon. It doesn't have to taste like Big Red but I don't want it to taste like ground cinnamon either. Based on what I have explained so far what do you guys feel I should try next or just stick to mint for now? I've yet to try Jaks Mint or Wintergreen and from what I hear about it I'd probably like it so maybe that will be in the next order. It's just really disappointing trying new flavors that aren't mint and not really liking any of them.

Hold steady on your quest. There are tons of snus that you haven't tried yet. You will find your go to snus. You might even find one that isn't mint that you simply love. You will use it for a while and be totally satisfied with it. But of course they will surely discontinue it.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Paco, I am very similar to you when it comes to portions. Before the PACT Act I tried everything under the sun. Had 2 or 3 gallon size freezer ziplock bags in my chest freezer with so many brands, flavors and strengths. At first i thought I loved some and hated others. Then The ones i thought I loved, I didn't like anymore. I ended up settling on Thunder Frosted. And when they came out with Thunder Frosted Long+ i was hooked. For months, that was my exclusive SNUS. I didn't use anything else. Then I tried the Thunder Orange and thought I loved it. Now it seems to get bitter on me very quick, unless I have it with coffee. But then I found Jak's Melon, and I really love that. So for a few months its been a rotation of Thunder Frosted Long + and Jak's Melon. I found a can of Oden's Cold in my freezer, and I like that as well, although its a bit weak in the nic department for me, but I have added it.

But I had also gone back to part time smoking, since i bought my house last July. And what do you know, in just a handful of months, I got bronchitis, which I hadn't got since quitting smoking a handful of years ago. During those 2 weeks of hell I remembered why i had finally ditched the cigs. Well, I am 3 weeks without a cig, SNUSing like a fiend, and with my rotation mentioned above I have ordered some Thunder Wintergreen White, and I have also ordered 4 different cans of Loose. Loose is originally why I replied here. Since I will be fighting the cig habit mostly at home, (when I went back to cigs, it was only when home, at night, and on the weekends), I figured, I like loose more than portions, and can keep loose in my mouth longer than a portion, I might as well get some for the real fight.

When it comes to loose snus, I have not had a single can that I didn't enjoy. I didn't LOVE everyone, but I hated none of them, and could snus any of them. I can only use loose at home though. If I am going to work, or going out in public, I use portions. So my loose usage is much less. But I do enjoy loose more than portions, and there doesn't seem to be a horrible one out there. For my order arriving today I have a can of Thunder Frost loose, A can of Ettan loose, a can of Grov loose, and a can of Probe Whiskey loose.

So maybe give some loose a try. But I do understand where you are coming from with portions. For me, there are only a few I have found that I really like, over the long run. Most others I either do not like from the beginning, or think I like it, then it wears off quickly. But I will always love Thunder Frosted and Jak's Melon.

            Protip:

Take Ettan (Base snus, very mild and mixes well)

Add in flavor of your choice.

For example: One of my favorite snus flavors is salty root beer.

Grab a can of Ettan (Or general even works) - Three drops of root beer extract from the grocery store and let sit for two days. Make sure to mix the portions up some though! It's pure heaven.

Next idea for me is Diet Dr Pepper flavored snus. I have access to the syrup and I'm going to make a batch of that :P

            Don't forget to be creative

Be very careful with what you add in your snuff so it doesn't contain sugar or starch that can convert to sugar. In Sweden Swedish Match sold a tobaccofree snuff called Onico. It contained cornstarch and a lot of people got serious problems with cavity only within a few weeks of use.

That rootbeer thing sounds interesting or maybe vanilla thanks for the tip. Bad Axe thanks for the advice but I have a real phobia about los its a weird mental thing lol. I haven't tried any skruffs yet so maybe one day. PP thanks I'm not giving up it's just frustrating sometimes as its real hard to decide whether to pay more for less because you haven't tried it or just take a chance and order more. Funds are really limited so it's a constant battle lol. That northerner free shipping deal helped but I still hated 2/3 of what I tried. I wish it was sold like dip around here so I could just pick up a can of each to try but Americans aren't ready for that yet I guess. Still pissed I missed out on the Coffee Supreme and Vanilla Coffee thing from offroad as I share your love for coffee flavors. But who knows I'd probably hate that too hahah.

Oh and Tattooer, yes I've tried General Original, Tre Ankare, and Phantom and didn't really like any of them.

No problem, and I totally understand. I have that with snuff. I ordered about 6 or 7 cans from Toque when i forst quit smoking and was snusing. I absolutely loved the chocolate snuff, but I can't handle having the crap in my nose. So much so, that even though I really liked it, i can't bring myself to use it. Damn mental problems. LOL.

                    Paco,

I would not sweat it bro.............use what you like..........occasionally throw in something you have not tried or want to revisit

But in the end the reason there are different flavors is……………….. there are different tastes.....your thing just happens to be mint
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I haven't been able to get used to the salt myself. I'm like Makla and Chema and it's loose and called chew but I put it in a tea bag. It's neither good nor bad. It's just a non event but it delivers the goods. I like it because of that. Keep in mind I use my own size portions...about twice what a regular portion is and I only use 3 - 4 a day so I don't worry about The ph making stuff used in those two. I do worry about the salt. Just me I guess. Don't like that salty deal but hate the sweet even more. Scruf stark is my favorite least weird one...don't notice much.....

Instead of starting a new thread I decided to resurrect the last one I made as it kinda goes along with my snus problems lol. Anyway do any of you use white portions towards your back teeth or further back then OP's? I'm sucking down my General Mints and Wintergreens in about 20-25 minutes but even if I wet them well before placement I can't get enough "juice" from them to be satisfying unless they are past my canine teeth where as OP's I keep right around my canine teeth. Same goes for Oden's Dry it needs to be further back or I'm not satisfied. I'm not really looking for an explanation just wondering if I'm alone here.

That's where I use all my portions. I move them around my mouth, but they're always towards the back.
