Grov Stark

Just finished my second portion of the Grov Strong (Stark). I am a long time Grov whore and wanted to give this one a try, and I ordered a roll for trade, and received 4 free cans. The Spice on this one is immediate, there is a big shot of nicotine at first. I was concerned that this was a white version of the Black Grov Svart after reading the reviews about it that mentioned "Tarmac". I was afraid it was another Licorice flavored snus, but it is not that at all.

The full pouches are a throwback to any one gram pouch of old. Well, this is Grov, and while I do not detect any Tarmac, it is a strong tobacco and has just the slightest dark flavor, a some what bitter finish, but nothing pronounced. The portions kick hard and seem to be played out after 30 minutes, so the delivery is so fast. I will not be adopting this one because of the nicotine delivery is above my tolerance, which will make it ideal for those who crave a big fix, it is there for you. All In all I was pleased with the flavor, and I got just the hint of chocolate, no sweet, just a hard hitting plain tobacco snus. That must be the Earthy part of the review, yes, it tastes like tobacco, I like that taste myself. I absolutely learned to loathe the old Svart flavor, the licorice was off putting. There is a background smoke to this one, and you get 24 grams of tobacco in a can, how nostalgic!

Grovsnus Original Portion is my favorite snus EVER. The white portion and the lös is awesome as well, so this I will buy a lot of as soon as I get my hands on some.

I will try the Grov Los. Next order waiting until i find Odens Lime Los extra strong delivered to USA. Im sticking with Los. I tea bag it and its just cheaper in the long run.

Well all grov has a leathery taste. That is the flavor of tobacco, and yes it has a classic Grov flavor, I am beginning to really enjoy them a little too much! But this is not the flavor of Grov black at all.

Whalen, I have some bad issues with the smoke flavoring that some SM snus have.

I believe it does although I barely detect it. Now , just for the record, I never have been able to detect it in Lucky's either, just my taste buds I think. I get no smoke from General at all.

Hmm... I taste lots of smoke in the regular lös, and I remember the regular portions having a fair amount too.

Ok, thanks! Grov Black had some super strong vanilla... anise... marshmallow... baseball glove flavor going on, that was way too much for me.

Well guys... here's my review: NEW Grov Stark - Grovsnus Strong Original Portion



Just released, and landed on my desk this morning. First impression, what a kick ass can! One thing that's often bothered me about Swedish snus is their effeminate packaging (white cans, frilly fonts, flowers etc)... well that is NOT the case with this one. It has an almost military issued look to it. Brown label, black can, GROV in big black letters with tiny "stark" accent in red... hands down the most BA, manly can I've seen. The portions are original (meaning they've been moistened) and a full 1g per serving (many only offer .7 or less). I've found myself double barreling snus (putting in two portions) because of this... with Grov Stark I don't feel the need. There is also plenty of slack in the portion for you to arrange the tobacco in a comfortable position in your mouth... that said, it feels a bit abrasive (and I will make it a point to do a follow up on whether or not it becomes irritating). Now to the taste, which I will sum up as very VERY good... bold tobacco and a bit of spice are up front... a mild citrus in the back... nothing offensive going on here... savory, straightforward tobacco. A little earthy... and even an ever so slight creamy note. This is a very pleasant snus! Nicotine hit is very good too, and I've had no problems keeping a portion in for up to an hour. It's as if someone took the sweet/fruity notes out of my old love Claq Qui, or took the bergamot out of General... and said here, have some pure, bold tobacco. There's a good chance I'm looking at a new favorite here. ***EDIT 4/22*** A few days under my belt, and no irritation in sight... the abrasive feeling never went a way, but it didn't tear my lip up either (as feared). Also, I'll confirm my original speculation... this IS a new favorite, in fact... it has a strong potential to become my #2 (behind roda lacket). I'll give it a few more orders before doing anything drastic like revamping my list... but I can't recommend this one highly enough.
