    New smoke free record!

Today is day 5 of being completely smoke free as a result of my snuff, snus, and e cig regimen. Other than the odd craving here and there, I'm hanging in there. Never thought I'd say this, but I am proud to call myself a nonsmoker! One thing I notice though is that despite getting my nic and fulfilling my hand to mouth, the cigarette still brings back a sense of comfort. One reason I totally quit is because when I do give in and have one I physically feel nauseated and repulsed if I do. Thanks to all who have sent me snus and getting the ball rolling on this for me. Never thought I'd totally give up smoking as a result of experimenting with snus and other smokeless alternatives.

    That's awesome man! Congrats!

Beware though; for me, when I open my first beer, the cig craving kicks in to the max. I don't know why, but it does. I can snus an entire can at once, but still I crave those damn sticks. I think I have to force myself to vape at those times, but it still isn't the same as smoking a cigarette.

So the battle continues (for me)...

I know exactly what you mean, i was like that for a while. Then one day, it just stopped! The snus was enough, when it did though I vaped through it which helped quite a bit.

Interesting, I've already drank quite a few beers without smoking, so that isn't really an issue. On a side note, Göteborg's Rapé I find goes excellent with beer, or even something like Ettan.

Heck yes. I am at my parents' house over the weekend, I had a bit to drink and they had company over. Normally, I'd sneak into the garage and have a cigarette. Just a habitual thing I do when I am back at home. Today, I just went into my bedroom and took some hits of snuff. Worked well. As I lay down in bed, I have no desire to smoke. Now starts day 6.

Good for you, dman21! Quitting smoking is harder than quitting crack (I know jackshit about smoking crack, that's just what I hear). I quit smoking years ago and it took like two years before I could drink alcohol without being called back to the cigs.

If you want to quit smoking but not stop drinking, I also recommend a cheap corncob pipe and some cheap baccy. If you've been drinking and you are about to fall off the no-cigs wagon, a couple of puffs off the pipe keeps you straight. For me, I would never smoke a pipe as much as I would cigarettes.

We need one of those out of context quote threads on here!

For me, it wasn't alcohol itself that triggered the occasional cig. It was merely being around other smokers. I have just removed myself from certain situations now. Most of the people I associate with now are nonsmokers, which helps a lot. My best friend also quit smoking with snus, so I have a snussing buddy. Honestly though, from when I started snussing until now, it took a couple years to completely quit.

Heck yes! So far, I am on day 8 and have no regrets. I'm coughing up shit, but it's a reassurance knowing my lungs are cleaning themselves out from 6 years of inhaling vile poison.
