TRY General or NOT??? Help me decide!

I am curious. What differences do you notice between General and Camel?

The Flavor lasts about the same between the two brands. Camel is sweeter and General has a FAR bigger nic kick when you first put it in. Apparently Swedish Match is making a big push at all the local swifty marts. I had NEVER seen it for sale before this week and today I found 4 stores selling it. Camel has been here several years.

I will have to say I prefer Camel's aluminum tin to the General plastic canister. I took an empty Camel Mellow tin and filled it with General for work.

Yes, they are great at packaging and advertising. Too bad they weren't as aggressive about making a good product.

@sandmountainslim : I've tried the Camel Mellow and Frost...I like them, but found that General is pretty satisfying and the taste a little "smoother" for lack of a better term. (I tend to lean more toward General if I had to choose between the two). Maybe you can talk to your local shop and push for the General to be carried at all times....and I agree the Camel aluminum tins are great.

Ok folks...I am three days into General snusing...bought 10 tins of it and now Im worried sick that it will fail in retail and I will be outta luck What will I do if that happens?? Camel isn't strong enough anymore and I refuse to carry a spitoon around with me. could I safely upper lip and swallow American pouches like Timber Wolf?

Just buy it online in large amounts when it's on sale. Vacuum seal it and freeze it.

This. It costs anywhere from $30.00 to $40.00 to ship snus. I would just keep checking the different sites an stock up when they have a sale. Buysnus had a huge one a while ago where you got a free roll for every roll purchased on General products.

Ok here is my dilemma. I quit smoking five weeks ago using Camel Mellow Snus. I know the RJR Snus is looked down upon here but I have used the Mellow, Frost and Mint Camel with great success and have not craved a cigarette for quite some time (two pack per day smoker before). NOW a friend calls and tells me a local shop has in a shipment of General Original Portion and I would like to try it BUT I am afraid if I do so the Camel will no longer satisfy me as far as nicotine If General were as widely available in stores I would not have this dilemma but I don't wanna risk getting hooked on General then the store no longer stocking it and trying to go back to Camel. What should I do??

Are you referring General Tailored or General Licorice? Sorry just a newbie.

That is the thing. I won't do a tobacco which cannot be purchased locally. I don't wanna rely on the internet for my habits. If I can't find it over the counter at local shops I will have to switch to another product.

I hope General sticks around I am snusing a Camel Robust right now and it is more to the same nicotine level than the Mellow and Frost I used before. Guess I have found a backup snus if I can't find General.

I was looking at Buysnus today due to email re a portion sale and was checking for a good licorice snus and saw they had a " Brand New " General Original Licorice. Is it really new? Has anyone tried it? Des anyone know of a great Licorice with low salt back ground? odens original Lakrits got me started liking Lakrits but i want a better one. sorry Oden. Id kind of be surprised if General had a better one. at least its sold stateside

The trend is……… putting snus into stores.........these are not test markets......this is a nationwide push to distribute snus.....in other words, they fully expect it to stay......and for the product line to expand...........which means they fully expect you to see more not less local snus.

That said, I would really reconsider taking an all or nothing stance (local or nothing at all). I can't wait until snus takes a hold here in SC..........the trend is moving from west to east......north to deep south (if they had started snus in the south.....where all the dippers are.....it would be more likely to be seen as just dip…..thus they began elsewhere in order to disassociate their product from the stigma attached to dip)......anyway……… I can't wait until it gets here...........when it does I will have one more option to consider as I shop for the best price......I will also be able to pick up a tin on the go from the local mart.............That said………my normal MO is that I'm a slut..........I shop price...........on and off line........local and shipped...........I could care less the venue.........if I can get the same product cheaper.

Weigh all your options and keep as many opened as you can………..if SM finds they are selling 1/3 of the USA snus locally because of the better selection on line…………..you will begin to see a better selection locally………if they find price is a factor…..they will be more likely to keep their price lower……………….to be tied to one option……….is to be at its mercy (be it on line or local)…………

Now about dip.............while snus is made to be swallowed dip is made to spit..........a few swallow dip.....but I would not recommend it

General will not be drying up anytime soon in fact it's going into more stores now. There are 3 more stores in my state (CT) that carry it then there was 3 months ago unfortunately they are still no where near me. I would recommend buying as much as you can and afford before the sale ends. Put them in a zip lock bag and stuff them in the freezer and or fridge that way you won't have to run out for a while and you just saved a bunch over the regular price. Can I ask why you won't purchase snus from Buy Snus or Snus Central? Almost all of us have used those 2 sites without any complaints really. I'm not trying to be rude but I don't really understand your logic here. Lastly even if the sale ends tomorrow the regular price should still be around the same as the Camel's and you get 24 portions instead of 15 and its better quality then anything Camel makes. I highly doubt those stores that you have found that are having the sale will stop stocking General once the sale ends especially if you are buying up all their stock. Anyway hope this helped you in some way and didn't sound too negative.
