    Evasive tactics for euro-tax

    Alright guys and girls,

Bought a roll of Onyx yesterday, damn... ran me like nearly $80 inc. tax with BuySnus. Is there anyway to get around this whole EU tax issue, or is it just not worth trying? At this rate... I'm gonna have to 'join the phantom movement', perhaps.

I haven't had this problem. What shipping method are you using? I hear it's best to use Swedish Post, since with UPS one encounters customs issues.

The tax isn't added by customs, it's added by the merchant (BuySnus/Northerner) when they ship to a country within the EU.

For example, go to BuySnus, look at the prices with the country selection as 'Other Countries' and then look at the prices with the country as 'EU Countries' -- big difference huh?

Oh, I'm sorry. I saw only the "NC", not the "UK". Yes, big difference.

I hate to say it but there is really no way around the taxes...

Snusen is a good option for General / Onyx but I wish they would carry Ettan/Grov etc

I look at it this way....$80 is about £40.7 at todays exchange rate....so every can of Onyx is costing you slightly more than a pint.....and a roll is equal to a night at the pub (at London prices anyway)

Otherwise swap to General Sterk / Skruf Stark...it works out a tenner cheaper....

Ps: there is no need to join the phantom movement when you can order Knox...

Haha! Dude I am working on getting back to the US... and when I do, snus tax will be the least of my savings Hell... I'll be able to afford a cadi just off income tax savings alone Talking of which... that new CTS is awesome, and don't even get me started on the CTS-V... my goodness, what a car.

I've thought about getting in with that tax-free snus site, but my concern is... will it be handled differently at customs? I mean we don't have any duty on smokeless tobacco in the UK at all afaik, but then the euro's coulda jumped on board here and made some 'amendments'... any experiences with this company and the UK?

I've tried Knox karl, yeah it sure is some good stuff... but just gets a little old after a while... I don't doubt it's a hella lot of better than phantom (sorry xobe).

Don't even start me on the tax...I debated declaring myself a resident non-domicile until the laws changed last year and Labour shut down that loophole..

Agreed. Using one brand does get boring.

I think FatLip has had a good experience with Snusen

Let me know if they are any good (if you do decide to order from them)

Sweet Sounds good... Ironic that I was earlier on in that post criticizing their business model but now the tax rates have increased.. I'm definitely interested Talking of politics... maybe I should have become one :P

You gotta love good ol' labour governments.... There's a good phrase I heard recently regarding tax and left-leaning governments: 'It's all about plucking the most feathers from the goose with the least amount of clucking.' How true, I think the trouble is... us Brits just don't 'cluck' enough about anything really. I mean come on... it takes a lot to make us complain.

I'm gonna order my next roll with these guys and I'll let you know how it goes Karl.

I expect that soon, you will have a new Government there. Your new Conservative leader is one impressive gent.

So, so sad. Your Conservatives make our Conservatives look like buffoons. Wanna trade.

New government doesn't necessarily mean the old policies change

And our conservatives have got quite liberal. Which I think is a good thing. They could make everybody happy.

See, that is why they impress me so much. They just seem to be the best of all worlds. And David Cameron just impresses the hell out of me. I think you guys would do well with him. We shall see, we shall see,
