    Unrefrigerated snus okay to buy?

Maybe a dumb question, but a local tobacco store carries a couple of different kinds of Jakobsson's, but they don't keep it in the fridge and the stuff they have is a couple months past the best by date.

But because I really wanted something other than General and I need a strong snus, I got a can of Classic Strong anyway. It seems okay, but it's not as moist or flavorful as even a General White portion. The nicotine feels only slightly stronger. I do like the flavor, what there is of it, though. It's a much needed break from General for me.

So is my can of Jakobsson's just too old and it should be better? Will it do any harm to finish it? Is it okay to buy more?

I am saving up for an order online, but I won't be able to order for a while. I can get all the General I want for 99 cents a can here, but I'm getting tired of it. I need variety!

I would be worried more about the expiration date than the refrigeration. I have used snus portions that have been out of the fridge for weeks without any issues. Los is a different matter though and should be used within a few days after opening unless you want to rehydrate it. My suggestion would be to ask the store for a deep discount on the outdated stuff and buy it if they agree.

I'd like to tell you that I've never refrigerated my snus, and I've used TONS of out of date snus. Remember guys, it's a best by date, not an expiration date. Will it start to lose moisture after the best buy date, sure...but that's easy enough to fix with distilled water. Hell, I just rehydrate with my mouth, lol.

Now, being that that retailer bought the snus from my company....I'd like to know which retailer has expired snus? That way, I can ensure that he gets some fresh product. Thanks and go buy all his expired snus, it's fine...but make him give you a deep discount as Vegan says.

GV and RC covered it pretty well. I will say I'm ambivalent about the lack of refrigeration with American sales. While it's more or less a gimmick in Sweden, keeping snus chilled in the USA would be better due to slow sales.

Regarding the perceived lack of strength in Jakobssons... The nicotine may have have been slightly reduced, but it isn't a beat you over the head stark when fresh. Old snus has deficiencies, but won't be harmful to health.
