    Importing American Snuff into Australia?

    Hey there!
I've been living in Canada for 12 months and have taken a bit of a liking to Cope. I was hoping to take a tin back with me for my friends to try. As it is illegal to buy in Australia, no one has really heard of it. I was wondering whether a tin would just slip through customs without getting the shit taxed out of me. It is legal to import 1.5kg of chewless tobacco into Australia. Also, how would I declare it?
    thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to Snuson. I don't have the knowledge to answer your question. But until someone happens along who knows, maybe these threads will help.

My guess would be that if you put it in your luggage or pocket and if asked said it was for personal use you would be fine. Worst case that they would take it. I'm sure many users of dip fly in daily with a few cans.

I don't have any personal experience though.

Thanks for the reply mate. Can any back this info up? I think I might just fly in with it in my pocket.

If its legal to import 1.5 kg there would be no reason to even declare any amount up to 1.5 kg. But don't take more than that otherwise you WILL have to declare it or take a big chance if you bring over that. I used to bring in cigars from another country. I would always have the max I could take out of that country but that amount was too much to bring into the USA without declareing it. I always declared what I had and they always inspected my luggage to see. Since it was only a bit more than the amount I wouldn't have to declare the customs agents always let it slide. The amount of tax wasn't worth their time in paperwork.

Its not a big deal mate. Its tobacco....I'd take 1.3 lbs back if I were you because its tax free. This isn't something to really worry yourself over mate. Just don't run drugs or massive amounts of money.

I know I can send up to 40 tins of oral tobacco to your country. Done it several times with a hitch. I have a particular way to send it tho....all legal and such.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
