What is the saltiest, "richest" snus?

I'm looking for hearty, salty, bold, rich, robust, savory, etc. You get the idea. A little sweet would be okay.

Not bitter, or citrusy, or fruity, or flowery, or minty. And not like tea. Any snus like that?

And why isn't there a snus flavored with molasses? Seriously. Salty molasses snus. Yes please.

I think the classic Swedish flavours tick most of those boxes. Especially if you go for los instead of portions - los tastes much richer.

I would go for Ettan, Grov as the plain tobacco flavours - and if you can cope with bergamot then General Extra Strong is the richest snus I know and it has a little natural sweetness too - the los version is amazingly rich. I would also suggest trying Skruf Stark or Extra Stark which tastes very natural and savoury despite being advertised as using rose oil. Swedish Match Lab series 06 is very savoury and has molassesy overtones.

I haven't tried the new Grov Strong - but that also might be in the same ball-park as stronger snus usually has a stronger taste.

    Cheers

Grov stark ticks your boxes as do all the ones squeezy mentions, Grov Stark I simply love! Most of the oden's and oden's extremes will be good, the extreme is very rich and peppery so you should get on with that one too.

All of these are Los (since that is what I am most familiar with)

Probe tastes like American chew to me....so that may be a place to start looking for molasses snus (some people love it others hate it.....with probe there seems to be little middle ground)

          Knox is rich and peppery

Oden's Extreme is rich and earthy

Grov and Ettan are full flavored (though I would not call them rich)

General Extra Stark has a great Classic snus taste (not fruity or Earl Gray at all) I would try at least one can

Skruf in los is a shadow of its former glory....I find it bitter and unpalatable.......the portions may be a different story....I know there are a lot of folks here that like them....so they may be better suited to advise you with regards to the portions.

          Anyway....I would start with these

In turn.....based on your preferences I would avoid: Prima Fint (too too too mild), Kronan (earl Gray), Gote Rape (Gin), Phantom Blue (herbal), Gustavus (Earl Gray).......Mind you many of the above are fantastic and you may well want to try them in the future.....but for now they seem to be on the other end of the spectrum from what you are looking for.

Hope this helps......and keep us posted on what you try and like

Did you buy a roll of Skruf stark Los and they were all bitter and unpalatable ? Because I'm anti bitter and Skruf stark Los is my favorite so far out of 7 Los types ( Skruf being my only stark) Ettan is my second and Goteborg Rape third Prime Fint4 th and the rest are not repeatable. I'm defending my favorite obviously .

I find Skruf bland. The lös before the buyout was decent, but it changed afterward. I don't hate it, but I don't see any reason to buy it either. I'd take almost any Swedish snus over Skruf.

For some reason the loose has less flavour than he portions with skruf. I find the portions beat the loose hands down in terms of flavour, the loose seems muted but, its flavour last much longer than the portions.

my last two rolls (bought about a year apart) were both very bad.....mind you they were still in the white cans...so it has been a while

Maybe they have re-improved their los.....I hope so......b/c pre buyout they were a regular in my rotation....as it stands now............ I have better things to do with my taste buds

But if enough folks say the los is back....I'll throw in a can in my next order

Its not back at the pre buyout levels yet but it is certainly much better than it was even a year ago, portions are still great though.

Skruf is definitely not as good as it was before the company was bought out by big tobacco, I can't deny that. But it is still a great snus and I can't help thinking that a lot of the naysaying against it is mainly due to the psychological effects of knowing your favourite small tobacco brand has been taken over by big tobacco.

AND ... Prima Fint IS mild - but it is sublime and subtle pure tobacco enjoyment ... I don't often say this - but don't listen to Snusdog on that occasion!

I disliked(not quite as strong as "dislike", but you get the idea) Skruf from the start. The portions came in my very first box of Swedish snus. I had written them off completely, but KarlvB(where is that guy?) convinced me to try the lös, and I liked that pretty well as an occasional snus. Then they changed it... Oh well, no big deal; there's still Gotland Gul... :bangshead:

Man I tried.....and then I retried.....and then I re-retried.....I just don't get anything.....it smells like the tobacco blend is the base used for Roda.........but for the life of me I just don't taste anything...........guess I'll just have to chalk this one up as a casualty of my American inability to taste anything that is not cased in syrup and ladened with other "All Natural" processed flavorings............

Prima Fint is subtle. I'm still not sure what I think of it. I taste it ok, but it strikes me as an Ettan- with the grind of Röda. It kind of leaves me wanting more. I'd be thrilled if they sold it over the counter here, but if I have to order, I'm not sure why I'd pick it over Ettan or Röda.
