Paying taxes for online tobacco orders?? Ya might take note...

I was at a sams club today talking to the old geezer in the tobacco dept. He mentioned that recently a fellow in Illinois [of course] was buying cigs online and the government caught up with him. He had to pay over $4000 in taxes immediately or face prosecution. I don't know if there was any penalty involved. I'm sure it was just a matter of time before the gobment had time or felt it was important enough to go after these no-gooders. ;(

    Just a heads up
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

In my state there is sales or use tax on anything bought or sold here.....period. The beauty of it, if you will, is that there is no mechanism in place to catch us no-gooders in the private sector. I will say that my business was audited by "sales tax" some years ago and it was painful, even though I thought that I was on the up and up at the time.

oh, lovely. I hope the cases are few and isolated, meant to scare people straight. I'm sure I've not been taxed at least once, lol

thats about as fair as if somone went on vacation to another state and them hitting you with a vacation tax when you get back.

If it was neither made nor sold in that state they have no right to tax it. IMHO
