Has anybody here started using Snus.....from absolute scratch?

By that I mean: who has never smoked a single cigarette....cigar....pipe....dipped...or used any tobacco in their entire life....until using Snus?

In my case I was totally tobacco free for thirty three long years before coming to Snus.

For some reason I think that is an unusual case.

Am I right....or wrong?

Dan, most of the snus users here came from cigs or dip. Once in a while a younger person will show up here and tell us that they never used tobacco products but they want to use snus. When that happens we kind of gang up on him to try and convince him to not even get started on the nicotine train. I'm hoping that they listened to us.

Most all of us have used nicotine/tobacco in one form or another before finding snus. Some have quit years ago due to the health effects. They find that snus is much healthier then some may come back to tobacco in the form of snus if they still have the cravings for nic...even years after they originally quit using the more harmful products.

I started with dip, then smoked, then used snus for a year, then back to cigs, then dip and now back to snus and honestly... I haven't had a single desire to light up a cigarette since coming back to snus...


I first used snus when nick n johnny used to offer a los snus... then came back when I saw my local tobacco shop sold general.

Former cigarette smoker here, too. Snus saved me from that, back when General Onyx had those cool chrome lids.
Haven't looked back, and I'm breathing much easier.

I am a cigar and pipe smoker who switched to snus. I always did like chewing on the clipped cigar wrapper and enjoying the pre-light flavor of cigar tobacco, though. My main motivations for switching were for family time (I can enjoy snus around my family, but have no place nearby like a balcony to smoke) and health (trying to avoid at least some colds and other bugs around my newborn during flu season, which I seem to catch more often when I smoke).

I am a strong convert, in any case. I really liike the range of flavors and the somewhat different physiological effects from snus.

I've never smoked cigarettes, but like PP hinted, I'd used tobacco quite a bit before I discovered snus. I always loved a good cigar, and occasionally smoked a pipe and used snuff, but not everyday, maybe once a week. For me, it was a visit to Sweden that led me to discover snus, since then, barely a day has passed in which I haven't enjoyed it.

I hear ya John!

I still miss cigars! It's just that after 33 years off of tobacco (until my recent return to Snus) I don't dare go near my old love of cigars.

And....there is just nowhere to smoke one. I'll never stand around outdoors and enjoy a cigar: too weird for me.

Back in the day we just smoked 'em wherever.

Now! Swedish Snus and I'm home!
