    Where did it go?

Two things: this is not about Snus and this is not (PP) a joke!

I recently resumed smoking cigars. I always loved 'em but I quit them a million years ago. Now I'm back.

When I smoke one now (it's winter) I do it in my garage. I would never smoke a cigar in my house.

Sometimes when I don't finish one (and this was the very first time I did this) I will lay it in an open piece of aluminum foil in the back of my house and let it burn itself out until I want to relight it again.

No one goes to the back of my house. Nobody! In fact the ground is covered with a light snow cover. No way to get to where I put the cigar without me seeing tracks.

    You with me so far?

So today I do exactly that. Now comes the mystery.

Three or four hours later I go out to get the cigar to relight it. It's gone.

No tracks....not even the slightest breeze or wind.....a deathly silence surrounds my back yard, just like when I put it there.

I'm first thinking: a squirrel or some other curious animal. No tracks. Even animals leave tracks.

I go out like an idiot and start looking (because now I'm really frustrated) .....absolutely nothing!

    You guys are all experts.

Where did my Nicaraguan Lancero go?

I have no kids and there aren't any kids within miles. And even kids leave footprints in the snow.

And I forgot to mention that not only the cigar was gone put also the piece of aluminum was gone.

I don't like stuff like this. Not that it's a major problem what with all the world's real problems and all.

BIRD!! Do you have crows, because they will take things like this all the time. I once had a seagull take a cigar I had laying in an ashtray on the deck, and it was still lit, lol.

            This may be the Bingo!

            I'm liking the bird theory.

But would the bird also stop to make sure it took the substantial piece of foil along with the Lancero?

            Maybe it would.

But what kind of bird would wrap up the foil around the cigar before it flew off?

Crows have been known to scour cities picking up loose coins (shiny things) in the past, and I'm thinking this is exactly what happened.

No....it didn't burn down. Cigars go out rather quickly. And there was not a breath of wind or breeze.

I also got to thinking that I would never tell this story in real life to people who I meet face to face.

There is a limit as to how far you can go with your supposed "sanity" with people who see you in real life. Don't push it, I always say.

But online we tend to think that it's still the Wild West with no holds are barred.

People get into some real trouble (as we have seen) every day by slipping out with their true thoughts online in social media: that can't ever be recalled.

This does not fall into that category by a long shot. But still......I'd never tell this story to people who actually see me.

Gotta love the Wild West.....up to a point.

                    This might be the answer.

How in hell did you come up with that?

I think you and Rick have nailed it!

The aluminum foil must have gone with the bird too. But it would have taken it a moment to wrap the whole thing up.

Maybe he came back for a second trip?

Anyway.....this has got to be the answer.

                      I love the internet.

yea definitely a bird. I have a macaw that steals my TV remote every chance he gets.....then he flys away with it and drops it as soon as I tell him to. Hes so fast that he is usually back at his perch by the time I realize he has it.

In your case I'd put money on a crow.

                          No! Not a bird!

After this happened today and before I posted here about this I started another cigar because the first one went missing.

This time I didn't leave it out side! I left it laying on another piece of foil inside the garage!

Just this second I went out to relight it.

It was gone.....cigar and foil. Inside the garage! No birds in the garage!

I know what is going on!

Do you want me to tell you or do you want to tell me?

(spoiler below......don't look down if you want to figure it out on your own)

I have chipmunks and mice in my area and sometimes in my garage. They will take and eat anything known to man.

                          Dan

                          P.S.

This is starting to cost money.

you said there weren't any tracks. So you have flying mice and chipmonks? Must be nice living in Oz.

No....no tracks because they run along the foundation of the house outside or they actually came from inside the garage in the first place.

I'll just have to suspend the cigars from the ceiling on some kind of a rodent frustration device.

I can't believe I'm even talking about this.
