    Can Designs

This is kind of a goofy topic, but presentation is important. I'm curious about what can/label designs the members here love/hate.

My favorite all-day, go-to snus has one of the worst looking labels imaginable. THUNDER.

The font and lightening bolts are corny as hell, but the kicker is the slogan: "Feelin' the Thunder!" Notice that I'm not just "feeling" it... I'm FEELIN' it. Ugh.

My wife digs the design of the Jakobsson's can, but they just look a little to Grandpa to me (no offense intended to any actual grandpas on this board). Although, the inset compass is really cool.

The American general cans have a nice look, but I miss the shiny foil labels.

Oden's cans look totally METAL ( \m/ ) for better or worse. I do like the little mascot on the No. 3 and Pure Wintergreen. Looks like some misplaced ancient Egyptian god.

IMO, I think Skruf has it on lock as far as can/label design goes. Sleek, modern and classy.

What are your favs? What embarasses the hell out of you? (I peel off the Thunder label every time I open a new can. And that secret inset tobacco leaf underneath is class!)

Gustavus.....the design just before the one they use now was pretty sweet......

I will tell you the can I don't like...General Mint Snus can. Too Austin Powers looking. Kind of embarrassed to pull that tin out of my pocket...Click image for larger version

The OLD Skruf Cans were Boss!! Now I would vote for Prima Fint.

For functionality the the old Gotlandssnus tins. For appearance, the the Old Lucky Strike lös tins. For current production, none are especially functional, but I'll give the style nod to GN in general, and the Islay snus in particular.

              Agree with X here.

Gotlandssnus tins were the best. They were air tight, all plastic, and the fit was so good Snus rarely went dry. Plus they were still 50 grams while all SMs went down to 45.

For looks the winner has to be Lucky Strike or the old Landstroms tins.

I like the imported General cans.....nice script, I like plain, new Onyx tins are nice...... the bright Lucky Strike tins are interesting, in your face, but I like them too.

Phillip Morris 1847. Those things were awesome looking. Metal tin with raised graphics.

Current production, I like the can Oden's Cold comes in, although the stickers aren't straight most of the time. I mostly like the catch lid that's attached to the can so it can't fall off; plus it's also a larger than usual space for used portions.

I think the classiest looking can is Islay Whisky Snus.

Raised design, rubberized feel, looks like a wood cask, and has the batch sticker on it. I'm always proud to take that one out.

I agree that the Thunder cans are pretty embarrassing and tacky. I mostly use Göteborgs Rapé white and Grov. I love the simplicity and shiny blue foilesque look of the Göteborgs cans.

Lucky Strike and Swedish camel, the catch lid on Swedish camel, LD etc is perfect and the hinged style GN's should have so there isn't a gap for the snus to dry out.

Go ahead and laugh, but this is the best can on the market. The rubber seal keeps the snus moist and fresh much longer than any other retail can. The shape fits my pocket. It's so comfortable I don't even know it's there. With careful packing it will hold 27 General White portions without squishing. When I leave the house this can is in my pocket.

Take a look at these hi-res photos courtesy of our friend Chad. Notice the white rubber seal. It works!
