Easy switch from cigs and Skoal

I've been a cigarette/cigar/snuff alternator since college, and on a flight to Calif four wks ago I sat by another Houston fidgeter in Business Class. Halfway thru the flight he popped out a can of snuff and quickly slipped something in. I said "that's a good idea" and snagged my Skoal Fine Cut out of my briefcase.

A little wary about tipping back on that first swallow, I started to open the Skoal can, and he said, "here try this (General Wintergreen)" I'd had a General regular portion several months ago with a Swedish friend so I knew what it was and how to put it in. It was great. Took the edge off in about 4 min I made it last the next 90 min of the flight and when I got off he offered a Mocca+ Eucalyptus, telling me it's same Vitamin N with less show. Worked for me in my meeting for the next hour. Had an uninteresting Kool (Marlboro No 27 is my usual) on the hotel balcony later that night and decided I didn't need to do that, so I got online right then and ordered a log of Gen Wintergreen, a log of General Onyx, 1/2 roll of General Sterk, and 5 N&J Wests off of Swedishsnus.com that night. No Mocca+ available on swedishsnus.com. Ended up throwing away the rest of the Kools in the AM. Just not interested. Made it thru the next day on Commit 4mg lozenges. (No spitting Skoal in the cup in the Calif mtg!)

I did the high end shipping alternative and got everything no problem UPS in 4 days. Wife signed for it (TX law). I threw most of it in the freezer but kept one of each out, plus the Catch Drys they throw in for free. N&J West is easily my favorite of this bunch. Taste is identical to the wrapper of a good handrolled cigar, I'll be glad to be done with General Wintergreen (unfortunately I got 10 of them). Gen Sterk and Onyx are pretty close -- good buzz & flavor, but have to spit the first time if I place it too far off center (which I need to do to keep it from looking like I've been in a fight). The Catch minis (Euc and Peppermint) are good for when I'm in meetings.

As to the smokes, I finished up the 3 sticks left in my Marlboro 27 pack in the car over the next week and was cigarette free until yesterday when I got a box of American Spirits (taking this health kick thing all the way) yesterday before a return trip to California. Cigars are still on the menu though. Not giving up that pleasure. Although I like the feel and taste of a good smoke (I've had 3 today walking out in the SF ctreets) I find I am wanting a snus even when I'm starting at the pack of smokes.

I'll try the los thing someday but gotta lot of portion snus to work through from the freezer. And I'll order some Mocca+ Euc and Regular for the dicrete times (even in dip friendly Houston, you gotta be professional).

    Welcome to the forum tdeni8,

Typical story, snus just seems to push the ciagarettes out. Still smoke one every now and then, but much prefer the smoother nicotine delivery of snus.

And I had to fly cross country last week. Flew direct from JFK to San Jose, and then back to Boston from San Jose, the longest I have been on a plane since I flew to Paris 8 years ago. Snus and airplanes, I love to fly again. It is just such a joy to not be stressing about getting nicotine.

I hope you stick around, good folks and great info here.

I'm in Houston, too. Apparently you can buy General and General Wintergreen from the downtown Specs (it's the super-sized Specs that's just south of downtown, in mid-town), if you're interested in that.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to snus!
