    Interesting New Snus

Gotland Påsksnus - An Easter snus with chocolate and orange. Dunno about that, but I have to try any Gotlandssnus that isn't strong or wintergreen. Nice tin graphics.

LD Enbär white portion - I had the original portion of this years ago, and it was a big favorite of mine. A shame this one's white, but if the flavor's the same, I highly recommend it. Light tin :^/

Epok Pinje - White tobacco(?), and a white portion. Has the flavor of pine and juniper. Might be a good companion to the LD. They also have one that has the flavor of oak and dried fruit, but that's not interesting enough to deal with portions imo :^D

Haven't had the Enbär yet, I have some on the way now.

Reviewed the Påsksnus a while back - http://chadizzy1.blogspot.com/2014/0...s-9-april.html

Some info on "white tobacco". It's something the manufacturer came up with. (Winnington). It's regular tobacco that has been "cleaned" or "washed" in a process that, as they put it, "removes many of the hazardous ingredients that you find in regular tobacco".

So I've never understood the deal with Gotlands. Besides for seasonal things do they just make that disgusting licorice snus? Why are they not making more products or are they not available to us in the U.S?

I remember probably 4 months after i started snus I ordered their julesnus and it is still the best snus i ever remember having.

Götlandssnus made only 3 varieties when I started snusing - yellow, green and grey - they also made the Julessnus at christmas.

I didn't like the anis flavoured grey one, the green flader one was too fruity for my tastes ... but the yellow was absolutely my favourite snus flavour of all time - it was a completely class act.

Then they got a bit over-ambitious and launched Jakobssons - the original was supposed to be like the Gotlands yellow - but it was never as good. They started to come out with all kinds of ridiculous modern flavours like Icefruit and watermelon as they attempted to get a slice of the US market. Then they began to drop their old traditional lines one by one until now the only snus released under the Gotlands flag is the novelty seasonal line that Paksnus belongs to.

For me they have gone in five years from a respected small craft maker with some brilliant traditional products to an ambitious marketing-led money-making exercise with fancy packaging and a rather mediocre product .... sad to say I no longer buy any of their snus.

I know many of us have asked for a while now for them to do a limited edition run of Gul in the classic Gotlandssnus tins, even if it's just a small batch.

We came so close........Jimmy did all he could.....Frank agree to run the preorders at Notherner......but in the end ownership shot it down

When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Yeah ... profit and ambition for the company is only really a good thing if you're part of that company ... it certainly is not good for the consumer and the quality of the Jakobssons products is not as good as the old Gotlandssnus for me - it was a craft thing ... just glad I got to try it for a while.

                :-(

I have some Gul in the freezer, Whalen very generously sent me a tin of lös a while ago. Every now and then I take some and use it, but the day will come when it's gone, just like claq

I was not impressed with Epok.
