    Dip to Snus...

I have a friend that is a long time dipper, cope and grizzly long cut. I have heard Isaly is about the closest snus to the taste of cope. Anyway, he is health conscious and is very open it trying snus, so I will be sending him a couple of Islay tins to try out.

Some questions that will surely come up:

    - should be bottom lip the Isaly to start or should I recommend he upper deck it from the get go?
    - how do you think a portion snus will go over go over?
    - if he wants to try a los snus, what is going to be the major differences/challenges vs dip.
    - do most dippers prefer los snus over pouches or do they typically consider snus an upper deck pouch option and except the differences?

Speaking of los snus vs portion, any idea what the percentage of use is for each? Does it differ greatly from Sweden vs the United States?

Send him the link to the dippers guide to snus on here (I'm on my iPad so can't put the link in) but it's a sticky in this section, it answers all his questions :-)

I made the switch myself. I still have some in the bottom lip but top lip now too also. The pouches are a lot better I feel as I used to end up with strands of cope all over the place. I ALWAYS get a buzz with snus where as with dip i felt like i was just trying to kill the urge. spitting is optional which is a boost. I still do it myself as I am just used to it but I'm gonna give swallowing a try to see if that affects my buzz and quantity that I do.

In the dip world pouches (portions) are low nicotine "pussy" packet of tobacco. Getting someone to realize portions have a lot of nicotine can be hard.

Might as well tell him to upper deck.

Big differences between los dip and snus is dip can just get pinched and thrown in while snus needs to be baked and it can be difficult at first even with years of dip experience. It takes time it's a craft to get your snus together....like using a straight razor....you could get pretty much the same thing from a safety razor but it's a craft that takes time.

I think you will find a lot of dippers eventually switch to portions. I held my opinion that those pussy portions wouldn't satisfy me and as i used them more and more i started to phase out los. Now los is just a once in a while thing. After a day of work on sunday i come home and sit on my balcony and have a los but in class at work driving or really anything i go with portions. more convenient...you will not get 20 los snuses out of a can you just naturally make bigger portions when smaller ones will satisfy you. But starting out on los is a great way to transition

He might not be willing to switch after he figures out he will need to pay at least $35 to ship his snus here.

I dipped for years, and thought that los would be preferred for me...but I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love los, but portions quickly became my goto, especially since I can use them all the time, and no one knows.

Shipping is negligible if you are buying an appropriately large amount of snus.
Stopped by Shell when I was in the middle of moving and realized I had all my snus in a box. Got a can of Cope. SIX DOLLARS AND 21 CENTS. I remember living with my parents in VA and it was common to see it for 3....and 3 years ago I used to get it for 4.21

sure snus is a big expense but if you are economical about it it is a supply for six months and it comes out way cheaper than what you would have spent on dip in that time.

Yep...even with shipping as high as it is, it's not that bad. Get two rolls of snus, spend $80, it's still just $4 a can.

Does anyone know if buysnus is doing another anniversary sale? I think it was in October last year? The prices were incredible. I got probably 120 cans of a mix of lab, odens, general, and thunder and even with shipping it came out to be a little over 2$ a can

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering if pouches might be preferable to a dipper. So being a former cop dipper what is your favorite snus now?

Shipping seems to be a wash these days with Northerner discounts. I was freaking when shipping moved to Sweden but actually cheaper and faster for me now.

It really depends on your friends personality. If he is a "redneck" he will scoff at your "pussy pouches" and refuse to even try them, if he is just a normal guy that dips though I would assume he would atleast give them a shot. Personally my favorite snus is thunder frosted which is nothing like Cope which is all i had, although I was fond of Skoal spearmint when it was available. I guess the traditional snus and traditional dip flavors are very different. I like Oden's Extreme portions but they are just too dry for me recently ever since they switched from the hockey puck cans. Extreme 59 is also something I enjoy. Jak's melon, Lab 02 and 06 are a nice "natural" flavor as well. Maybe he would like something like skruf. I managed to get through a roll of it but didn't like it very much, tastes too much like thunder original which to me tastes like a mix of battery acid and charcoal.

So without turning this site into another shitstorm like it was previously....can Northerner be trusted again? I have heard good things but something about them just makes me not want to chance another order especially with those customs bills some people are getting, it may be no big deal now but i'd hate for some young douche trying to earn his stripes to start rounding up the people who don't pay those.
