    free diving

One of my msin motivations for trying to stop smoking is to improve my free diving, or rather, to be able to free dive at all in any meaningful sense.
It may sound strange having that as one of the main motivations for quitting. I do care about my health both short term and long term and i do care about
having to pay through the nose to maintain a cigarette habit, but i also love free diving and spear fishing and it's something real and concrete if you see what i mean
i can abstract the health concerns to a certain extent , they seem important but i can laways tell myself that they will happen 'later' some time. If i smoke today though , i can't
free dive tomorrow , i can't catch any fish . It has actually really shifted my perspective on cigarettes , from being something that provides me with something essential to being
really just a burden . I think there comes a point in every smokers smoking life when all they are fit to do is smoke . It's happening to my dad ; he's in his sixties and has never been able to quit
he's getting old now i can't imagine how much more difficult it is getting old and having to put up with smoking as well , it's something i hope i don't have to endure. I have given up trying to get him to quit
it's going to kill him i'm pretty sure , just a question iof when . He has become a life support macine for a cigarette . That's what they do , slowly edge everything else out of your life until there is nothing
left but cigarettes . Anyway , i am in love with free diving and spear fishing and each time i have a craving now i think of that . It helps remind of the true nature of our relationship , me and cigarettes that is .
Not sure what the purpose of this thread was , but just felt like writing it . Goodnight
